Not being funny but Warnock could just play at LB. Let's face most on here say he's better going forward so let's try and get him back on the form that earned him England recognition. It's funny how people use the McCleish being crap argument to justufy poor form from some players yet forget it when it's someone they dislike. Warnock isn't nearly as bad as some poeple on here make out, he always gives 100% and like many last year suffered from low confidence so rather than getting stung for £6m to purchase as unknown, bide our time and get value for money at the right time. It's not an urgent position IMO with Enda as back up.

When Villa released that training video with the army, warnock seemed one of the characters within the squad too.  If we can buy a young, good quality replacement then great but like you say, it may not be the end of the world if we did not sign anyone.

Man U and Arsenal have both been linked with a Japanese DMC from Celtic for about ten million.  Anyone know much about him?  I read he is 23 which would be a good age and in a position we might need.

I like this Douglas Teixeira cat. I think he'd plug in nicely at the Villa, however I'd hate to see Clark get a more limited roll because of it. We certainly need CB coverage though with Dunney out for an extended period.

As for the strikers I think Weimann and even Danny could hold down the fort while Gabby's unfit. Our midfield will be flying come the West Ham opener and goals will be coming from all sorts of players.

We have to sign him.  Our centre-halves would be Ron and Doug.  Immense.

Ron would walk.

Why would Ron walk?

It was a Doug Ellis/Ron Saunders quip.

I assume you mean Victor Wanyama, who is Kenyan. From what I remember he chose Celtic over us when he moved there, at least that's what he said at the time.

Warnock was being crap long before TSM came along.

Neil Taylor for me. Will cost £5-6m, but he's proven, young, British and can play right back too.

He’s looked good in the Olympics.  I think PL is waiting for Team GB to get knocked out as there Bertrand and Taylor playing who could both be targets.

I thought his passing was brilliant . He did look good

So had Gabby and I'm sure others could be added to that list too. I just don't feel we should buy for the sake of it. Obviously, you disagree.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11677/7962979?

oh my, please let that one come off, I remember bigging up annan for weeks around the the last world cup.  Great player and would be ideal in the prem.  If we are losing Makoun becuase of the work permit thing I can't think of a better replacement.

Interesting..

Quote:
VVV Venlo chairman Hai Berden has admitted that Maya Yoshida was on Aston Villa's radar before Ron Vlaar's move was finalised, and believes the defender is ready to join a bigger club.

Yoshida, who is currently captaining Japan's Olympic squad, has earned rave reviews for his performances in the Eredivisie over the past couple of years.

Berden says it looked like he could have been on his way to Villa when Vlaar's switch to the Midlands from Feyenoord briefly appeared to have collapsed.

The VVV official is in no doubt that Yoshida has the potential to play at the very highest level, with reports suggesting that he is a target for other clubs in England as well as Germany.

"Maya already attracted the interest of Aston Villa, but finally the transfer of Ron Vlaar went through," Berden told De Telegraaf.

"For VVV and Maya this is the perfect moment for him to make the step to a bigger club."

I know nothing about him tbh, but the words combative and midfielder appeal...

I've just read this too and thought the same.  I'm loving this transfer window, even if these players we're linked with are nothing more than rumour, my knowledge of random footballers is improving!
