Guardian now reporting that "Paul Lambert has also confirmed his desire to secure Carroll".  Don't know where he confirmed that, or what he wants to secure him with...

After the Burton Albion game Lambert was quoted as saying "If we could get him it would be great. He's a top player" or something like that. So I reckon that's pretty explicit.

Going after Luuk de Jong and possibly Carroll it seems there is a desire there to get a fairly significant forward in.
I reckon Lambert considers Bent as his main forward and anything else is open. Weimann (particularly) and Delfouneso will get some chances, I'm not sure what he thinks of Gabby but I get the impression a partner or serious competition for Bent is a priority for him.

Maybe Carroll thinks Rodgers won't last a year and he might get another shot at reviving his Kop career next year, or am I being cynical?

IIRC, Carroll didn't want to leave Newcastle this time last year so I'll take whatever he says this year with a large pinch of salt

maybe he didnt, but when Liverpool came in with 35 mill his club took the decision and he was on his way

I find it pretty staggering that if the media reports are accurate, they're willing to stomach a circa 20m loss on Carroll after just 12 months.

His form plummeted mainly due to his service drying up. No decent crosses meant Carroll struggled to score. Now he is available on the cheap ready to be picked up.

Well done agent Downing. Your mission is complete.

Agree, if you get Owen, you are just paying for the upkeep of his horses. The lad's head doesn't seem to be in football anymore.
