If Lambert is looking for a hold-up man up front, I wouldn't be surprised if we were one of the clubs in for Steven Fletcher. It's an area along with central defence that I think we'll strengthen in and Fletcher knows all about the Premier league, right sort of an age and is different to what we've already got.

That's a joke right?  Don't Wolves want 10mill quid for that aging streak of piss?  We could probably buy somebody decent for that price.  I'd rather have Emule back.  Jesus, I can't believe I just typed those words.

He's 25 I think, so not ageing. Wasn't advocating it but strange that people don't seems to rate him but will happily talk about 9 mill for Ba or 5 mill for Holt.

he is 24 and goals record is very good. £10m is way too much but considering he cost them £7m and has improved as a player i would think his value would have gone up. All my wolves mates round here in the black country reckon he is the one player of real quality and i completely disagree with you over emile.

I think Fletcher could 'do a job' but think there's better for cheaper.

But might Fletcher be one of those players who is prepared to come to us and not be a first choice, thereby given us that different option in a striker to Gabby and Bent?

Personally I think he'll prove too expensive for that, but would be keeping an eye on Jordan Rhodes to see if his valuation gets anymore realistic.

TBH If Newcastle bring in Carroll then they might sell Ba. But, at £7mil Ba could go anywhere, Chelsea, Spurs, United... wherever... he scores goals.

Fletcher at £6m or so would be worth it. Not much more.

I think he's a cracking player.. but his price tag is ridiculous.

i do think he is expensive, who would you go for peter? the problem you have with anyone who has a decent record in the prem is instantly expensive, the next bunch come through hunches and gambles, like rhodes, who for about £8m is an expensive gamble

Any signing is a gamble. But I would rule out anyone froma lower division where the asking price is like Rhodes or fletcher. And I'm a fan of Flethcer. I'd rule out BA as I'm not sure he'd come. To be honest i don't know -  but this is where I'd hope the manager's contacts and scouts have a better idea.

On that note, if his wages were not a millstone, would it not be an idea to have a Michael Owen on the bench?

If we've got money set aside for a striker, any of Ba, Sturridge, Carroll would be a decent partner for Bent, IMO.

Owen on the bench would be great.  Owen in the treatment room not so great.  Which do you think we'd get?

I think Fletcher is very good. You want a player that can score goals, will score goals in a scheme set up to create chances and gives 110% every game then Fletcher will do that. If the manager thinks the price is right he'll be a very astute signing in my opinion. His work rate in a dire Wolves team reminds me a bit of Dempsey and he plays the link role very well.

owen would only be worth considering on a pay-as-you-play deal.

I've always liked Owen. But, I think if he was any good still then Fergie would keep him.
