Even at a reduced price buying Carrol would blow most of Lambert's budget for this summer so I can't see it.

Don't forget if we sign Carroll we probably be paying over few seasons so we will have reduced budget for 3 seasons rather than just the summer/season

I hope we are interested in Carroll but that Telegraph article seems like a load of bollocks from start to finish.

At least they are talking realistic money...£15m is about right for Carroll.

Even though I doubt he is technical enough to be part of Rodgers plans at Liverpool, I cant see him leaving this transfer window. SSN have been trying to boost the story as loan interest back to Newcastle and I doubt a move to Fulham or West Ham would do his International career any favours.

He could arguably be a brilliant player for us for a long time, but may be the timing isnt right for us or him right now given that we need to strengthen other areas of the team as a priority and he'll be looking to move to a team in the European places.

"Liverpool are ready to make a £25m loss on striker Andy Carroll this summer, with former club Newcastle preparing a £10m bid to bring him back to the north east."

Newcastle must be laughing themselves silly at the possibility of getting a player back that they sold for £35m for a fraction of the price 12 months later - if they was to buy him back that would basically be like they loaned Carroll to Liverpool for 1 season at a cost of £25m.

Maybe we should offer the 'Pool a couple of quid for Downing back if they looking to sell players at fraction they paid for em - after all they must of rumbled the "bin crossing" was a fake by now lol

As soon as I heard he might be available I thought a return to Newcastle might be on the cards.

Presuming N'castle are not interested, Carroll for £10m-£15m, sell Gabby for £5m-£10m, leaving us with Bent, Carroll, and Weimann as the forward options, for a nett outlay of £5m, with no  significant wage increase. Where's the "like" button.

The money figures don't even matter, Andy Carroll can't hack it.

I would not want Carroll, he is good but not as good as his lower 15 million price tag. I thought most here were fed up with route one football anyhow? Carroll but be pretty good on the deck, similar to Crouch, but with a big man on the pitch long balls always become to frequent.

Carroll is a bundling donkey crossed with a headless chicken who can only contribute to a game when the balls hoofed up to him. Even if he was on a free a big no from me.

I wouldnt want Downing back if they paid us to take him off their hands!

I'd prefer to have Caroll on loan first before splashing the cash

Oh fuck! if only he would have been at VP last season he would have been perfect for the shit we played.

I would have Caroll in the team if we keep Collins after all he would be perfect for "Mr Hoofball"

Or we just buy him and keep Gabby too.

Wonder whether Newcastle would be tempted to swap either Papiss Cisse or Demba Ba in any deal that meant Caroll returning?
