Can't agree with your comments on Delph, though: lacking in composure he might be, but he got some serious skill in him on the ball. Not one to be written off yet.

Delph has tended to get himself into trouble with his combative tackling in midfield which has caused injury to himself and a rash of cards.If he was developed as a left back then the need for him to keep diving in could be curbed and hence we might see a very useful player in the mould of  say Kenny Swain.

You then have to take albrighton and nzogbia out of things as they should only be playing wide, I don't think we'll always play wide men and I think it will be very rare we play both so they should be fine, but we'll probably see another arrive to give more options.

If you're right here - about the use of wingers tactically / sparingly - then I'd fancy that N'Zog will get cashed in by PL. We already have Ireland and Holman as attacking Midfielders (and Makoun) and can use Albie and Carruthers tactically.

Sorry might be on the wrong thread but does anyone know for sure what is happening with Makoun. Has he not returned?

i was never set against Lambert, but was probably more luke warm towards him than most on here,
 but he has not put a foot wrong so far in his brief spell, and i am pleased with his transfer targets and overall philosophy,

i admit i was worried about the simalarities between him and MON, but nothing he has done so far has given me any reason to keep thinking that, obviously we are yet to see how his teams pan out, but i am feeling positive about that as well, with what we are hearing about the focus on possession football etc.

i was reading the Mirror today and on one half of the page was a feature on MON and straight opposite was a article on Lambert, and i was just well pleased we had the right man,
in fact i felt a bit sorry for the Sunderland fans, its really is only a matter of time before they realise the football they will have to put up with, and i wouldnt be supprised if MON doesnt see the season out for one reason or another, mainly because i dont think it will be to long before he has a disagreement with his chairman.

so its so far so good, actually for me a lot better than i was expecting, lets hope the season turns out to be the same

Like you John, he was not my first choice, and the Norwich forums, coupled with his previous buys worried me significantly. But so far, you can't argue at all. Almost like he has taken all advice from fans, agreed with it, and it going about fixing it.

Ever since seeing him talk on Goals on Sunday last season, I firmly believe that Lambert wanted to adopt a passing and possession based game. It's just he needed to move towards that, even from signing El-Ahmadi you can see that as evidence of that philosophy.
