Yeah, so no more Young, Milner or Darren Bent then.
Don't get me wrong, he may turn out to be a good player but it's still a bit of an underwhelming signing. We need a couple of established players in to get the fans excited.
No, what we need is the manager being given space and freedom to build the squad he thinks appropriate, big names or otherwise.
One step at a time.
I feel confident we will start progressing in the right direction and hopefully its our performances that will be what gets us excited. In the near future we might be able to go in the market for bigger names in the market.

Some are tweeting that Gabby is off to Swansea for £5m. It's probably bollocks so I guess somebody had to post it, may as well be myself.

I'd literally cry.

I heard it's actually closer to 3m and he's fallen out with Lambert.

Presumably they only met yesterday, so that's quick work!

So let's look at his record over the last 3 seasons. Get rid and lets move on. Yes he has played on the wing but he ain't good enough.

If we sell Gabby for 5 million we have been robbed.

I'd be very surprised if theres any truth in these rumours 2 days into pre-season training.

O'Neill would probably give us £10million, we'd be stupid to sell for half that.

I'd bite anyone's arm off if they offered £5m for Gabby.  As I've said before if he wasnt a local lad people's views would be the same. He's just so average.

Surely he is worth more?

I heard a rumour that Gabby was one of the most vocal trouble makers in the dressing room last season.

If thats true .. fook him off..  he slagged off Houlier , he was shit as captain under TSM , I like PL , so bye bye Gabby , you never reached your potential.

But on what basis? Consistently poor scoring record (even when up top), poor technique, technically poor, can't head the ball, poor first touch and no football brain.  He's quick I grant you but when the end product is zero what's the point? A lot on here have good memories of a few games he played well and give him all the excuses why that didn't continue (out of position, confidence, etc).  He's just so average and contributes less each year. £5m would be better invested in defence. Let's face it, he ain't a starter next season.

If that is the case then he has to go-even on the cheap. A new start for us and no trouble makers should be tolerated.

We'd get more than £5m surely?
