That was the rumour, but it's not been confirmed.

Junior Hoillet's contract has expired with Blackburn. I'd be on it like a car bonet.

I'm not sold on Hoilett, he likes to play left mid and does drift out wide but his crossing isn't that good and he can take wild shots from positions he can't score from or he has to cut back in with the ball and he is a bit predictable with that.

He is a confident ambitious player but is better used in an attacking center midfield role rather than on the wing, we have Holman who can play the exact same positions as Hoilett and not sure if Lambert is looking for another player the same as Holman.

Hoillet will be looking for extortionate wages, so I'd say it's a none starter that one.

And to pick up on the Zat Knight thing I agree he was a useful player, but how can we say he was overpriced when we made a profit on him?

Sorry we've missed out on Poulsen, but to me that puts Taylor at Swansea top of our LB list.  He may have been anyway and Poulsen wasn't on Bertie's radar!

Just seen this on FansFC.com

Hugo Rodallega is keen to make a move to Aston Villa.

The Colombian international is available on a free transfer, having decided to call time on his Wigan Athletic career following the expiry of his contract.

Not too long ago Rodallega was being linked with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus, but the interest in him has cooled in recent weeks.

Paul Lambert, though, is said to want the 26-year-old at Villa, and it is believed the striker would jump at the chance of a move to the Midlands giants.

He'd be third choice for me behind Bent and Gabby, so don't see the point in that one.  Most probably made up!

i like him, would be a good option for me, behind bent but definitely infront of a very average not improving gabby.

Of course I'm not being serious.

Trying to squirm out of it now are you?
Too late Maz, we've seen evidence of your pig ignorance.

Enough!  Let's just hope Lambert brings home the bacon!

Rodallega is potentially very good. He's a decent footballer, good technique but he needs to score more goals. That may well happen for us. On a free, it's a good signing. He adds to the squad and he could play left, right, or centre up top, or as a second striker, so he covers a lot of bases. That would leave our front line pretty much covered depending on any system we want. For 2 up top we'd have 2 of, Rod, Bent, Gabby, Weimann. With a 4-3-3 you have Gab, or Bent for the middle, Rod, Holman, N'Zog, Albrighton, or Gabby out wide. Holman, Ireland, Weimann, Rod, even N'Zog can play in behind a front man if we play 4-4-1-1.

In terms of spending our transfer budget sensibly, the defence and centre mid needs to be the priority.
Clyne, Al Ahmadi, Whittingham, Rodallega, one CB, one LB, one back up GK.
Tidy business in my book. Spend the most on the CB and LB. 20 odd mill out.
We can possibly raise 10 back through sales if lucky.

Rodallega on a free would be better than keeping Delfouneso.

I'm not the biggest Rodallega fan but he would offer something very different and potentially dynamic off the bench or whenever he'd start. I get the impression he needs a change in his career and he'd be revitalised if he signed for us.
