New left back according to James Nursey at the Mirror - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-want-paul-lambert-892911

Nice, but I won't believe it until I've read it on Twitter.

rather have Michael Johnson than Adam. Much more useful.  Maybe we could swap him for Ireland? Wouldn't mind Keisuke Honda either - in the last year of his deal at CSKA and so may be affordable.

Has barely featured after a promising start due to (allegedly) alcohol problems.

According to Wiki he's played 11 games in three years. 44 career appearances in total and he's 24 now. Not old, but I'd be surprised if he got a contract in the top 2 divisions any time soon.

Again I know it's only the Mirror so it is not gospel, but I don't think club officials telling the manager who he should sign is a healthy situation and I'm really not sure why Faulkner is flying around watching players.  The lad named in the article sounds like a good prospect though and it does sound like Lambert is correctly idetifying the weakest areas of the team.

What's the point in having a scouting team if they're not going to recommend players to our manager? Besides, if a fee of £2m was agreed then in all likelihood it was PF over there discussing terms with Nancy, rather than actually scouting the player himself.

I like the approach we're making into the transfer market though. Young, vibrant players that can be rotated and learn on the job. Some acute signings here and there, added to the youth already coming through, will work wonders in 2-3 years time.

Some people are saying we have been linked with Michael and others are saying we have been linked with Adam on Twitter. I am simply asking which one because Michael is a fat alcoholic and Adam is one of the best wingers in the country.

I think he meant Michael Johnson instead of Charlie Adam...

Adam is also apparently a fan of the sauce, according to a Mackem mate of mine.

He means Adam Johnson I think. I've heard he likes the odd crafty pint or 12 too but that would of course have to be settled beyond any shadow of a doubt before we bid for him. Either he wants a career as a top player which is still quite possible or he wants to piss it up the wall.

We need hungry players but not hungry for a kebab after a night on the cooking lager.

"He (Lambert) had identified Denmark’s international left-back Simon Poulsen,27, of AZ Alkmaar as Warnock’s replacement but may now go for Haidara."

Why not both? If AMcL had tee'd the deal up he must have prefered him to Enda Stevens.
Have to admit, though, don't know much about Haidara, but, at 19 could be worth a punt.

Would be a good/interesting signing, I was impressed with him in the last World Cup. At 26 is a good age too.

Naughton and the French kid are the exact signings we will be looking at.  Still young and likely to be worth more than we paid after a couple of years.

Adam Johnson would be a great signing if we get him for a reasonable fee and not on silly wages, again the chance of his value increasing needs to be there.

I think the board will be wanting a lot more signings like Young/Milner and a lot less like Dunne/Heskey, I don't think we'll be buying with the intention of selling players on but rather with the option of making a profit if they decide to walk away.
