The Paul Scholes deal is off. He will not be coming to Villa.

Angelina Jolie has just been on the blower and she's called off the dirty weekend in Las Vegas.

Yes, sorry about that.
I'm taking her to Chessington World of Adventures with Scarlett Johansson.

You're having those weird dreams again Maz.  I'd cut out the cheese before bedtime.

I wouldn't be opposed to us putting in a £3m bid for Downing. Should they accept it we can always fail to meet personal terms.

We should go nowhere near Tomkins by the way. Baker and Clark are both better.

Absobloodylutely. Last time he was in the Prem, he looked to be responsible for about 50% of the goals West Ham conceded, Green being the guilty party for the other 50%

On the subject of central defenders, how about Ben Turner at Cardiff?  I've been very impressed with him when I've seen him play and thought he was superb in the Carling Cup Final (and he's a Birmingham lad as well).

Was interested to read McLeish's comments about our current central defenders in the EM tonight.  He was basically talking about the fact that Collins is struggling for Sunday and was going through the other options when he dropped in something along the lines of "and we could always use Ciaran Clark back there as well".  Since when has Clark not been a centre half?

I can't find the mcleish quotes on Clark, but I am starting to wonder about Clark. He's been raved about for ages, but he's 22 now - 23 in september - and still to get more than a handful of games at centre half even with a speight of injuries and poor form of other defenders.

Is he nasty and ugly enough? Is he fast and strong enough?

I think he is starting to be seen more as a midfield player. He is a good player, and could well drop back as he gets older.

He seems really slow to be a midfielder though. It works well ins some games (eg Chelsea away) but in other games he hasn't got the legs.

Clark is a centre half, and hopefully he get's a run there, as I'd rather see Gardner and Herd in the middle of the park.
