don't mean to be negative , but why the f*** whould anyone with a modicum of ability want to join us at the moment?

How can you not mean to be negative and then come out with this load of bollocks?!

He raises an interesting question, though.

Players with ambition will look for ambitious clubs. There is nothing to suggest we are ambitious at the moment, really, is there?

I really dont think it is negative to admit that. Somewhat depressing, but realistic too.

Because they'll increase their wages and potentially raise their profile and either help move us forwards or use us as a stepping stone. That's my thoughts anyway.

They won't really raise their profile much if they think they'll be poking around the bottom end of the table with us, though.

It doesn't mean nobody will come, but it is much easier to attract decent players if you have the feel of an ambitious club.

But then Newcastle managed to bring in Cabaye and Ba while selling off pretty much everyone that a casual observer would have thought of as their best players.

With very few exceptions, most players will go to somewhere who will pay them more than they are currently earning. And even in our times of austerity, that will be more than most players in France, Belgium, Netherlands or Sweden will be earning. Which is why we should be shopping there like Newcastle are.

Compared to how much coverage the Dutch, Belgian etc leagues get worldwide i'd have thought their profiles would be raised quite a bit.

Newcastle are reportedly now in for Dost too. I hope he and the winger fella he plays with come if they are half decent, god knows we need them, but we are going to have to put a real shift in to convince good players this summer. Holman is a start, hopefully more will follow.

I have been really impressed with a young 18 year old lad at Crewe called Nick Powell. I would like to see us take a punt on someone like him for £500,000 or so.

On what basis do you think Roeder is a bad scout?

This could mean our midfielf problems are sorted!

Sunday Mirror

West Brom, Aston Villa and Stoke City are keeping tabs on 25-year-old midfielder Jamie O'Hara's future if Wolves fail to win their Premier League survival fight.

Surely with the current wages policy, its not a given that players will increase what they earn.

My mates a big Wolves fan, he reckons Fletcher is the one to go for.
Says if he can score for Wolves in the Prem, he'll score for anyone

Very odd. A poor manager can make a great coach or scout, look at thescout at Newcastle, managed the mighty Northampton town, but appears to be a decent enough scout.

I don't know if he's good or bad, but we've hardly unearthed any gems have we?
