Looking back, only Baros proved to be a poor signing. Bouma ended up being superb following the Chelsea home game at start of 07, Laursen was a beast, Sorenson just not fancied by Mon, and Milner still feels like he should be ours! Hughes was better than much we have now and has been for Fulham for a long time, Solano was a real bargain, and Berger and Phillips did well, the latter leaving way too soon IMO. Berson, McCann and Djemba Djemba were the worst of them really.

I'd swap that team for the current one in a heartbeat Only position where its probably weaker is attack and thats debatable
Its hard to admit and hard to disagree with you. When you consider a midfield consisting of Milner and Barry, with any others you want to throw in would own our existing midfield before we even look at the defence it is even worse

McCann did the job he was there to do. I liked him.

McLeish has received the thumbs down from Das Bost evidently, he's described Villa "as not very good".

Must have seen some of our matches on TV  ::)

I fear this response could be typical of any decent player. Who'd want to come to B6 under McLeish and his style of football.

I agree.

For the couple of million that he cost, he was a perfectly acceptable player for where we were at the time.

Well he's bang on the money, but on the other hand who are Heerenveen?

If what Dost has said is true, then it is a concern and shows how badly we have been run in the last couple of years.

It isn't true. Talksport or some other idiots have had some YTS piss artist translate a Dutch article with google or something.

That's fair enough then.

Its not what he said, as I mentioned earlier. Some halfwit at Talksport with no grasp of Dutch has stuck it into some crappy translation tool and totally mistranslated the text. What Dost actually said was 'Daar wist ik van. Ik ken de club niet heel goed, maar de interesse is mooi'' - Its has fu** all to do with us not being good.

Just for the record and to demonstrate the f**kwittery of Talksport, here is the Google translation 'Since I knew of. I know the club is not very good, but the interest is beautiful'.

To be honest, that isn't great.

Yes, Google translate is not very good.  It's still better than Talksport though.

"Ik ken de club niet heel goed" means, roughly, "I don't know a lot about the Club."

Thanks Richard that sounds more plausible, this guy looks as if he shits goals in the dutch league. Was disappointed when I saw the link on talksport but we should try to get him on board if it's only a lack of Villa knowledge.

He should go & have a pint with Willfred Bouma.  He'll hopefully put him right.
