Goldberg is a terrible presenter. He was 2 years above me at school and part of a bitter Baggie supporting clique who could not cope with our success when both teams were doing well late 70s early 80s.

He just can't get over it.

An Albion fan at work has been giving me grief these last 12 months. The gift that keeps giving as he says. My retort is that, in my lifetime alone, they have had 40 years plus of us being continually better than them so the odd season or so when roles are reversed is just a short term change. Our class and quality is permanant and will rise again very soon.

Baggie following Villa obsessive Adrian Goldberg's jolly jape on the breakfast show this morning was getting listeners to send in suggestions for "things that have happened since Villa last won a game."

Despite it being a few weeks ago, I've noticed the advert for his show is still him breaking the news and a few snippets about the takeover at Albion.

I actually think Albion might struggle this season.

I went to that school, he must have been 4 or 5 years above me.

Kings Norton Boys - he must have been there 1974 to 1981.

Funnily enough Alan Smith was in the same year as Goldberg and he was nowhere near the best footballer in the school.

Too right, in fact I refer you to my signature! 😉

Both doing well in a 'One were European champions and the other finished third in a two horse race when it got cold'-type way.

I remember quite a few Albion fans in my days at that time in Great Barr, a lot of them wouldn't accept us being champions of Europe because they used to say that "we never played anyone !!" - ok the champions of Iceland maybe (but look what happened this year !), but the champions of the old East Germany, Russia, Belgium and a team who had won it 3 times in a row just a few years earlier ! and the key word of course was "champions".

Even the corporates at Albion can't help themselves.  The write up on their website about the James Chester transfer contained the words 'he has decided to join Albions Championship Neighbours'. They really are small time bitters.

Oh they just have to "milk" the fact for the first time in how many years they're in a division higher than us.

Thinking back to 1970, when we were in the third division and their decent team of Astle, Hope and co.. was towards its end, I seem to remember about their obsession with us then - were we really like that in the mid 1990s when we were finishing top 4 and winning the League Cup and they were 2 divisions inferior ?
