There are few things I'd rather get relegated than endure, but Tony Pulis is one of them.

I'd agree with that.

I'd rather go down than put up with three or four years of Pulisball.

I think we sometimes forget that, somehow, football is actually supposed to be enjoyable.

Surely we'd all enjoy our Saturday evenings more if we were winning games 1-0 playing crap football under Pulis or Allardyce rather than losing 3-2 trying to play the right way? I'd have taken Allardyce in a heartbeat, a couple of years to stabilise us would have been ideal.

It's telling though that despite the fact that the Albion are obsessed with us, have beat us this season and are 13 points clear, the majority of them are whinging about the football they're watching.

They're always winging. 'The greed league', 'The Championship was more fun', 'Vile always get lucky', 'It wor fair'.

Thinking about it, I'd definitely have taken Allardyce but probably drawn the line at Pulis.

The penultimate caller last night was indeed Mr 'Greed League' himself, he sounds like a 1920's music hall singer.

It may have been a bitter pill, but I would have swallowed it for a couple of seasons because I think the club would have been in a better position after that period.  Let's not forget, the football under Houllier, McLeish, Lambert and Sherwood was absolutely atrocious for the majority of the time they were in charge.

Yes. It most certainly was. How many games did we win convincingly under any of them. 6-1 v Di Canio's Sunderland?

Garde is a good appointment if we stay up. Not sure if we get relegated.

Si on the phone-in wants Reo-Coker back as our answer in midfield. What planet is she from?

Yeah heard that, who is this person? Ayew's a headless chicken as well according to him/her (hard to tell) Complete bloody moron

And what about Damien at the end suggesting we go with Kozak and Gestede as strikers with Hutton and Sinclair as wingers ... you'd laugh if you didn't think they were serious

I thought Damien might actually BE Tony Pulis.

(Si is a teenage blind girl)

how old is Si

I think he could be a sound manager in both scenarios.  Good Championship sides tend to be well drilled with a bit of quality in the final third.  I don't see any reason why he couldn't turn us into that.

Not saying he can't sort it out but we certainly ain't well drilled at the moment and don't have any quality in the final third.

Genuine question.

Is the football played by Pulis, Allardyce, Moyes etc really so bad?  Aren't we getting all a bit West Ham?

(To put that into some Villa context - SGT was denounced by many as long ball - but he played/signed some of the best players we've ever seen at VP.  We moaned about MON - no plan B, dire at home.  We moaned about Gregory - with Merson et al - hardly non creative types.)

I would happily have taken Pulis or Allardyce if it meant survival. Organise, consolidate then replace.
