I was hinting at the spread of BBC money widely when I flippantly commented about my son returning from Cannes. In the same way that Damon "works out of Manchester" but appears on locations anywhere between Watford and Wick, his brother "works out of that London" but could be anywhere. He once made the hit "Cake Wars" programmes sitting with us up the Holte with his minions slaving away at the NEC.   From my observations television headquarters are going the same way as banks. They are all headed for big sheds on business parks around Milton Keynes.

If Midlanders are forking out nearly a billion pound in to the BBC then I'd expect some sort of meaningful investment back in to the area. It's not just about getting some cultural representation on the BBC I want something financial back as well. Whilst all these programs etc are being made in Manchester you can bet your bottom dollar that a lot of licence fee money is being spent in the surrounding areas to support what is being made.

We are getting fuck all from the BBC, I don't even bother buying a licence anymore.

News? World Service? Radio? Fuck all - really?

If you access the BBC you should pay the licence - simple.

News, shit, not interested in hearing who's died, been raped or scare stories all the time. Radio, nope, listen to podcasts. The only BBC ''product'' I've accessed for years is the sport on the internet and the odd catch up program.

One thing have noticed is that when you ring up 'Franksey', you get charged now.

In the industry I work in, Government and Local Authority contracts bang on about local spend with SMEs.  Our subcontractors cannot do much about where building materials are made but labour is generally local.  It is all very well dictating to the private sector, it is about time there was an emphasis the other way.

Birmingham and the wider Midlands gets a poor service from the BBC regarding local content.  Birmingham is the 2nd city but little is done to encourage public service entities to use the large population and give something back in the way of jobs.  BBC TV and radio in the Midlands is an embarrassment of small time local programmes.

Spot on.

Also, as oldhill raised the subjects of commissioning and the merits of a location's business case, here are two telling facts about those subjects.

1. The most lucrative programme in the BBC's history, Top Gear, was commissioned in Birmingham.

2. Shortly after that, the BBC stopped commissioning in Birmingham.

Are you sure the BBC are bothered about business cases?

Anyone would think Blose actually won the game on Tuesday with all the back slapping "proud of the lads" comments...apparently we were lucky to be still in the game after being played off the park in the first half, and Grealish was the difference between the 2 sides. They lost their cup final and now just trying to justify their sorry sad existing, where as we scored, we won and we move on. Jealousy is bitter.

Hang on, I'm confused. What was the difference again? A kid who cost nothing or ninety million quid? Make your minds up.

When Call Me Fuckface speaks it just sounds like the moaning drivel your mrs comes out with so it just sounds like a whiny drone that just gets ignored...blah blah blah bolx. My comment is more aimed at the happy slappy Blose fans who havent quite located their rocks to crawl back under and the miserablist Villa fans that havent anything better to do than talk shite on radio.

Some Villa fang just rang up 'call me franksey' and said two players we should have brought in the summer were Joey Barton and Curtis Davies.
