He's looked very accomplished whenever I've seen him play. The Irish league has improved a lot but is still quite a poor standard.

At least with Enda, there's not much of a risk. It's a small fee, probably low wages so if it doesn't work out we won't lose out too much. Look at Kevin Doyle, Shane Long, and Séamus Coleman as examples of players who went straight from the Irish League to the Premiership. Hopefully we've unearthed a real star.

I agree.

Unless Warnock is injured then I don't think you'll see him until next season at the earliest.

This. I think Warnock is getting back to his old self and Enda will be his cover.

I thought Warnock was outstanding yesterday - if he can just dispense with the 2-3 silly freekicks that he concedes in each game he will be one of our best players this season.

I think he's just the right age to join the big group (bannan, fonz, gardner, etc) on the cusp of the side that are young enough to keep improving together, the hope has to be that we get to a point where we have 14-15 in that group who could feasibly make a starting 11 between them.  That gives them an opportunity to learn their trade around the older heads and develop together.  a year or 2 together along with getting regular game time should see us in a position to make them the core of the squad as 23-24 year olds, most of whom have played together for a long time.

Eamon Deacy..

Well Done!

Didn't he just jack it all in and return back to the family shop? Or did I imagine that?

Sounds familiar, hopefully Enda gets a run in the team soon.

Well he could hardly do any worse than what I've just witnessed.

Said it before, and I'll say it again. The reason that Warnock wasn't picked by Houllier, is that he is just a poor excuse  for a footballer. How we got mugged by spending the kind of money for him that we did, really surprises me.

Never rated him, and never at any point in watching him in a Villa Shirt have I ever felt the need to change my mind I hope that Evil Enda proves to be a much better option.

For those who said Warnock did well at Chelsea I couldn't disagree more.  He repeatedly gave the ball away and today's performance was just a continuation of that form.

I really worry about Warnock when we play anyone with a half decent winger.  He was torn apart today by Dyer.  His tackling isn't bad but he's lost all his pace and his passing has gone to pot.  I just hope Enda is better than him.

Right from the off, they targeted our flanks and it proved dividends. To be fair to Warnock, he wasn't protected much by the left side of midfield, but it was so obvious at times. I could see it, I'm sure that the Holte could see it, pity that Eck couldn't

I should be more objective, however, Warnock would have had the hook 30 minutes in if I was the manager. He was hopeless.

Very tempted to throw him in against Bristol Rovers.

Warnock will be affected by today. He played so well against Chelsea yet positionally was horrific tonight. We gave their wingers so much room, yet they push our wide players as wide as possible and gave them a very narrow channel. Experienced players like Warnock shouldn't need to told to do that. We made Dyer and Routledge look like the best wingers in the world.
