Dalglish would've been better served staying as an ambassador for Liverpool becuase since his elevation to manager he seems to have turned into a fucking idiot.

It is the most idiotic thing to say. Not 1 goal or assist for a winger at Liverpool is criminal, even the most unlucky would have notched one by now... Robbie Keane was better value for them!

Whilst I readily join in the Downing bashing, the assist thing is a bit of a red herring to some extent as it was his corner that caused the first goal against us, but someone flicked it on to the actual scorer, and so they got the assist. And I suspect other similar things probably happened on some crosses. But still officially having none is still bad for him at this stage of the season.

Actually I just checked his stats over the years as he was supposed to be quite high in assists and they don't make good reading anyway. I have only included Prem matches as he mostly seems to do it in cup matches and for England and the opposition can vary greatly. His best ever season seems to be the one he broke through in early on. It is also interesting to see his shots have got more wayward as he has gone from almost half his shots on target to just about a quarter.

GS   SB   G   A   SH   SG            Season

7   13   0   1   6   6               03/04

GS: Games Started, SB: Used as Substitute, G: Goals, A: Assists, SH: Shots, SG: Shots on goal,

Assuming on average he got 30 minutes as a sub.

On average in his league career its a goal every 9.4 games and an assist every 6.3 games. Not sure what the benchmark is but that doesnt sound very good for a winger - ie 5 games in 6 contributes bugger all.

c50% of his shots are off target and he only scores from 12% of his shots on target.

While maybe not terminal, I would say that the owner's heavy investment is very much like Randy's under MON. If the investment doesn't result in Champion's League football within the next 2 seasons then it's highly probable that they could undergo a similar trimming. I've not seen their accounts (and let's not go into that old argument again), but surely they can't be turning a profit?

EDIT: and for the record, keep it up KKKenny, you're doing a super job.

When looking at they're spending, the £50m they got in for Torres needs to be taken into account.  So they've spent something like £60m in a year, which is not disimilar to MON with us (Petrov, Young, Carew and then the dealings from the first full summer), especailly if you take price inflation from 06/07 into the equation.  Given that the squad KKK inherited had finished 7th the season before, then his actual improvement is negligable at best, given the money spent.

What do you mean turned into an idiot?

Its a pity that he'll bottle it again sooner rather than later, as he's doing a grand job at the Dippers.

Pinch of salt and all that, but still amusing

It was originally printed in the Liverpool Echo, and unless it was from the Everton version of Lisa Whatsername from the Meaning Evil, then I suspect there is some truth there.

Took a peek at RAWK this evening to see how the Liverpool fans are taking to Downing.

Some nice comments this evening.

Quote
Hopefully will be gone in the summer. Coward in general and he didnt look arsed tonight but no doubt he'll at least play some part in the final.

Downing is a goat.

Quote
Sterling in 15 mins did more than he did in the whole half... He just doesn't have the bottle to play for Liverpool Football Club... Simple as...

Quote
Did he actuaiiy do anything or did he sneek off at the start of the second half utter pish hope he never plays for us again

and those are all from one page.

Lets hope they sell him at a loss before he has his "good" second season.

....and while we applied a lot of those kind of comments to him as well, he was still one of our best players last year.

Truth is, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he had a good season next year, the rat toothed cocksocket.

I wish we got as much from N'zogbia as we got from Downing. Still the way he bailed out at first opportunity I hope he ends up in the Liverpool reserves scraping for the odd appearance and he wins fook all this year.
The thing is we know he will have a 'Winners' medal of some description at the end of this season. If he gets that it will not be remembered in the history books that he was shit for them.

Always said that he has the sort of potential that a lot of managers think they can nurture and develop. He always looked very close to the real deal. Then they/we see the real player - a typical modern footballer, no sense of loyalty, spineless twat, no sense of the "team". Glad he's been found out at Liverpool after being our so-called "star" player last year.
He was never more than a complete overrated wanker.
