That story is here...

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2012/01/21/bolton-v-liverpool-fc-preview-kenny-dalglish-s-belief-in-stewart-downing-unwavering-100252-30167724/

That comment by Daglish about how big a club they are shows what is wrong with them, Downing crashing and burning-great

So KKK is interviewed after Liverpool lose to Bolton and blames it on players being disrespectful (nothing to do with him of course because he has no input on any part of the teams pre match preparation). Then does exactly the same to us in an interview about Downing. I must revitalise my Liverpool hatred from the 80's

A quote from Dalglish taken from that article..

Quote
“For me, he’s better than I thought he was going to be,” Dalglish said.

Just what exactly was he expecting for twenty million? Own goals and assists for the opposition?

Nope, that costs £7.5m and comes in a Stephen Warnock shaped box.

Hmmm.... Liverpool. I wrote a piece on my Villa column on the ESPN site shortly after they beat us at home (when we gave them the game, more or less, inside 15 mins) and mentioned that I thought our next opponents, Arsenal were a step above them; got some very pleasant comments from Liverpool fans after that. I think there's quite a lot of delusion going on there.

Of course Downing has been better than you expected Kenny.
You pay £20m for precisely zero end product and negligible work rate dont you?

He must think everybody else is fucking stupid. We know his boss is.

Now, can somebody rustle up a video of Heskey kicking a ball into a bin please.
Or maybe Mr Henry would be equally impressed by him fighting skeleton warriors with a magic rainbow sword. Something believable anyway.

Quickly now, before the transfer window shuts.

Lets just go the whole hog and have Beye chipping them into Millie's Clode.  That should do the trick.

"So I said, John, there's this guy called Emilio Heskey and man, you gotta see this video. He like, totally kicks the ball off the international space station and on the way down it kills a Goose and he traps the ball with one foot doing keep ups while making pate from the goose with one hand. Then he kills a wizard with a Shoryuken power strike, but the wizard manages to summon some skeleton warriors who attack Heskey. But he summons a rainbow sword and slays them. We gotta do a deal for this guy.

Sorry about your prize cow by the way but I still think those magic beans will come good."

It is the most idiotic thing to say. Not 1 goal or assist for a winger at Liverpool is criminal, even the most unlucky would have notched one by now... Robbie Keane was better value for them!

It's the pressure you see. Downing was playing in a field watched by some kid's mum and a dog before he moved to mega sprawling superdome Anfield. Who are used to winning the league every year.

Do you know what it's like to have 40 odd thousand people from Dublin, Cornwall and Milton Keynes tutting at you? Do you? It's pressure like you've never known.
So yeah, he's done better than Liverpool could have expected for £20m.
They expected him to accidentally set fire to the training ground, murder prostitutes and walk around Liverpool town centre fouling the pavement and stealing toasters from Cash converters.
He's at least played football... after a fashion. It's progress from being pretty good for Villa.

That said the similarities disappear once inside Goodison, which is surely the worst 'Big Club' stadium in the country.

It might be the worst stadium, but it's a great great football ground.

Agreed,
give me Goodison, Craven Cottage, Fratton park, over Stoke, Arsenal and Sunderland every time
