Everyone happy they've had their last word on this ridiculous charade now?

Back to Stewart Downing.

Mods - I'm sorry that what was meant to be a light-hearted, if perhaps ill-worded quip has caused you so much grief. I've tried to explain the origin and my interpretation - which has been said rather spoils a joke.

To those who've taken offence - there was none intended, except to people from Liverpool.

An apology to our Irish posters wouldn't go amiss either.

Isn't that the same thing, he has apologised to all posters hasn't he?

He apologised to the mods. No one else.

OK: I apologise unreservedly to you, to all Irish citizens who either reside in Eire or elsewhere and to those of Irish decent in whichever part of the GB they live - even Liverpool.

I would also like to apologise for any direct or indirect role my ancestors may have played in the catalogue of woes that is the English involvement in the island of Ireland.

A man in his late 20's has been arrested for allegedly punching a woman outside a bar in Yarm, Cleveland after she apparently questioned his tackle.

Are we all friends yet? Anyway, a quiz question, just for fun. No bloody Googling.

Which celebrity's autobiography is called "No Dogs, No Blacks, No Irish"?

I don't think anybody has ever felt Downing's tackle.

Pamela Anderson?

I reckon she'd have taken a canine's length though, so I'm not sure.

My crime - being an England fan.

I never knew that Liverpool fans/Scousers in general were so anti-England.

Not so much of surprise when most of the population have Irish ancestry.

It also helps explain another Scouse trait: sitting on their arses complaining that life's not giving them a fair crack.

Think about it. For generations the Irish have fled poverty and famine to create world-wide diaspora.  Liverpool's population is made from the same gene pool that said at the nearest port of debarkation, "Right that'll do for me.  Where's the Dole Office?"
Be it a joke of a misinterpreted comment I, like most Irish on here, found it offensive.  Change Irish for black or Muslim and there would have been an even bigger shit storm on here...
Still as Sepp says lets just shake hands and forget it.

Felt it? I don't think anybody has ever seen his tackle more importantly.
