Joking aside, its an absolute disgrace. A fully-grown man hitting a woman with her own handbag. I would hope they throw the book at him, but he'll only jump out of the way.
I know. Typical Downing.
He surely should have hit her with his own handbag!

Sorry I don't buy it. If you told me that Downing's ex was a paper bag, I'd still expect him to come off 2nd best.

I don't know why , but every time i see Downing on the tv i keep muttering "wanker", and hope someone really clatters him when hes playing.

I can't remember feeling like this towards any other of our ex-players, even Yorkie, or Southgate etc.Thers something about the whole Downing transfer that really gets up my nose.

I think it's his rat face. Even when he played for us I always thought he had a very punchable face.

Apparently punching your ex-girlfriend isn't considered offensive where he comes from!  ;)

Where he comes from you'd better get the first punch in ahead of the girls.

Scandalous suggestions here.

I am doubtful about the Downing allegations, apparently she fell onto his fist ,which was in itself an "affectionate and friendly" gesture, and she was planted by the FA.

Also cultural differences are not being allowed for. On Teeside men hit women all the time - and nothing is meant by it.

And when was the last time he hit the target?

Quote
It is claimed that Downing assaulted his ex-partner, with whom he is thought to have a child, after rowing with her while drinking at the Cross Keys club on Yarm High Street.
A local source told the Mail Online that there had been an incident between the two of them.
'She went over to one of his friends and said something that she shouldn't have,' the source said.

'He butted in and they were arguing.' It's then that the source alleged that he hit her.
The source continued: 'Police got there as they were thrown out. He caused a scene outside the club as well, when he realised they were going to take him in.'

'She went over to one of his friends and said something that she shouldn't have,'

"He reminded me of an effeminate Tim Henman the way he celebrated his goal last night"?

Coming soon to a thread on RAWK.

I got banned from there.

Deluded twats.

I would imagine if you went on another club's forum and mentioned them in the same breath as deluded twats you might have encountered difficulties.

My crime - being an England fan.

I never knew that Liverpool fans/Scousers in general were so anti-England.

I don't think they generally are.  Here's my theory: A little while back they had a handful of frustrated fans who seemed hell bent on manufacturing a Barcelona-esque separartist kind of vibe around the club: "Scouse not English".  The problem they had in inventing this mythology of a separate identity for Scousers was that it didn't quite tally in with the yards and yards of footage of old Liverpool European campaigns that featured their fans proudly flying Union Jacks and such like.  I think the fundamental problem with their core fan-base is that they are collectively insecure and desperately crave the spotlight and a special identity. Why this is I have no idea.

So those pictures from the summer of Carroll and Downing being bessy drinking mates were genuine. Where else would you go to pick up the best habits and life lessons? Good old Judas doing the red shirt proud.

If he hit her, did she go flying over the bar?

My crime - being an England fan.

Not so much of surprise when most of the population have Irish ancestry.

It also helps explain another Scouse trait: sitting on their arses complaining that life's not giving them a fair crack.

Think about it. For generations the Irish have fled poverty and famine to create world-wide diaspora.  Liverpool's population is made from the same gene pool that said at the nearest port of debarkation, "Right that'll do for me.  Where's the Dole Office?"

I do hope that diatribe was in jest
