Apparently he was arrested for assault last night. Fight in a pub in Yarm.

Absolutely unbelievable, I know...

I've just heard the same thing but was told it was a domestic incident whilst he was out.

What a lovely club Liverpool must be to support at the moment.

IF (and I mean if) he hit a woman, then he is more of a piece of shit scumbag than I thought he was.

Good to see the influence of his drinking partner Andy Carroll rubbing off on him. Does the story go on to tell us that despite throwing a punch at his girlfriend she ended up battering him?

So now they can add domestic abuse to being racists as honours they have picked up this season. What a lovely club. I have no doubt King Kenny will blame the girl.

This can't be true. I can't believe Downing could find the courage to strike a wet stick of celery, never mind a member of the opposite sex.

No doubt they will all be wearing t-shirts in support of Downing. Liverpool love to think the world is against them and play the poor victim so well.

I'm expecting an incomprehensible statement from 'king Kenny, saying how she was "bigger than Stewart" and "deserved all she got".

I don't do animosity towards ex players generally, and I find the vitriol towards Downing especially difficult to understand.  He was a good, but not exceptional player who was and still is replaceable.   We got way more for him than he was worth, so in my book he did us a favour by fooking off.  Doubly so as he is contributing to Liverpool's under whelming performances. Players come, players go, get over it.

1) How he's playing at Liverpool has no relevance.
2) Downing was signed by MON when injured, so Villa took a risk and also paid him to recuperate - in fact this turned out to be a whole season as when he 'came back' at Christmas 2009, he was crap and only started to play for us in reality until his second season ( 2010/11), so he used us.
3) He is a great user of the ball, a player who could be the provider of goals to a predicator like Benty and this showed while he was at the club.

1) It does to me it amuses me no end that he's been shit for them because I really don't like Liverpool.
2) It was MON's choice to sign an injured player, not Downing's.
3) There are plenty of players at least as good as him around, and 20 million is more than enough to have signed one of them. In fact just the profit we made on him should have been enough. The fact that we didn't is, again, not his fault.

He started it, punching his ex-missus.
But, it was a rabbit punch, and she finished it by smashing his fucking face in afterwards.

Well, we could hope.

My crime - being an England fan.

I never knew that Liverpool fans/Scousers in general were so anti-England.

Not so much of surprise when most of the population have Irish ancestry.

It also helps explain another Scouse trait: sitting on their arses complaining that life's not giving them a fair crack.

Think about it. For generations the Irish have fled poverty and famine to create world-wide diaspora.  Liverpool's population is made from the same gene pool that said at the nearest port of debarkation, "Right that'll do for me.  Where's the Dole Office?"

I wonder if the victim of the assault claims to have been "bitch slapped."
