I loved the abuse we gave him yesterday and the fact that the Liverpool fans didnt bother defending him. pretty embarrassing getting booed in your home ground.

That said he was the only one of their players who really wanted to win, he played decently I thought.
did he receive plenty or just a little?

Booed every time he touched the ball, "what a waste of money" chants. Went on most of the game.

To be fair to him he responded by wanting to play better against us, he didnt lash out or try and get our players booked.

£8 million does sound about right.
He was worth more when he'd just been relegated and had a broken leg!

Yes but that was MONonomics.

Indeed, for some reason I can't help but think, that he's super thrifty with his own money.

Just watching the game and resilience of our away supporters is commendable. Not missed a single chance to let him know he is a wanker.

The more abuse we give him makes him less likely he is to come back which is great with me

I'd say 8 mill is a bit high unless Sunderland are interested. The market rate for clapped out wingers who once had a reasonable reputation seems to be about 6 or 7 mill. Liverpool will have to ask a less than that to actually shift his wages onto someone else's books unless they are prepared to pay an ongoing percentage.

Who is mad enough to take Downing, he is damaged goods. He will probably end up in Turkey, that is normally the face saving option for er    turkeys

One of my mates is a Liverpool fan, and I told him at the start of this season that I thought Downing would come good for them. He strikes me very much as a confidence player, and his first half season for us, after his injury, he was utterly gash. Once he'd got his fitness back, and built his confidence, he started doing it for us.

You can call him a fanny who bottles tackles, but, he's a winger, and since when did wingers need to be putting in crunching tackles? Don't get me wrong, he's a weasel faced cock socket, who i find thoroughly reprehensible, but he was exceptional for us in his last season.

At Liverpool, he's had a disastrous first season, and found himself with a manager who clearly doesn't want him (as has Darren Bent), s he's not going to get the chance to prove himself.

There's obviously not going to be any way back for him here. For a start, he probably doesn't want to, but then we also have a manager who clearly doesn't believe in wingers. I suspect he'll go somewhere were there is less expectation on him and he'll do quite well. If someone can pay the right sort of money for him (NB, Martin, that's not 15m), then I think they'll get a good deal from him.

I've just noticed on MOTD that for our second goal yesterday rat-face realises far too late that Andy Weimann is running through the middle on his own.  However he puts a sprint on to get in a position where he could put in a tackle, before realising when the ball gets backheeled by Benteke that he can't tackle so he backs off completely and gives Weimann the free shot to score.

What an absolute shower of shite he is!  I'd rather play with 10 men than have him back in the side.

Felt he was their best player yesterday even out of position at LB Certainly he performed better than Rodgers £15mil midfielder.

I'd rather play with 10 men than have him at left back, as he was yesterday. And to be honest, a lot of people reckon he was their best player. That's how in the shit Liverpool are.
