nah. 25 years is right. Not too worried about it not being the right time given our current, shall we say, low expectations, but it loses its impact if you do it every 5 years or so. End up like the manc's who seem to remember every anniversary yearly like its written in stone. Always remember their embarrassing kit thing when they all had the fake moustaches on.

I really don't see the issue with doing something else. Why not? We've got nothing else to concentrate on, it's unlikely we'll be achieving anything even a tenth as significant anytime soon and we (still) have the honour of being able to boast such an achievement.

When Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal have won the European Cup it won't be such a magnificent achievement. But right now our name is up there with the very elite clubs. Make the most of it while we can, IMO.

Then again, I say that as someone who wasn't there to experience it first hand and will remain eternally envious.

I don't see where the club's current fortunes come into it. If anything it would be disappointing if the board decided against doing something simply because it highlights a current 'low'.

Something understated would be welcome and appropriate. I like the ideas of one player per game, and something for Tony Barton.

Big celebrations would be in order for me,
 we need cheering up and remembering what happened 30 years ago which will probably in fact almost certainly not be repeated in my lifetime would be OK by me.

I think we've done it to death. Most of the players involved are part of the fixtures and fittings at Villa Park these days and are probably happy to have a chat about old times. I have the utmost respect for that squad and a mention in the programme would do for me. Why not ask the players what they think?
On another subject we are only a week away from the 41st anniversary of the epic League Cup SF 2nd leg vs Man Utd.

If the idea is to deflect attention away from the shite we've been offered by a poorly run, badly managed playing side club, then yes its a good idea. However, its a little bit too desperate. Will we do it for the 35th? 40th? We won it, great, but lets enjoy our history not become like uncle Albert in only Fools and keep harking back to it as if we know its the best we've got and we can never aspire to it again.

I'm thinking more like a statue or plaque, something permanent, in a few years no one will remember he was the manager who guided us to our greatest triumph.
 And a nice ceremony to go with the unveiling.

I don't think our current situation or peoples attitudes to it should have anything to do with a 30th  celebration. I'm with those who want to do something on a smaller scale to 2007. The 19 people 19 games idea is as good as anything else I've heard or could come up with. And certainly some tribute to Tony Barton included somewhere.
