Just got this on our website! Nathan Delfouneso? I don't know much about him other than he's a young Villa striker who came through the ranks! Could be just papertalk like most transfer speculation in the round ups!

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Sunderland-manager-Martin-O-Neill-keen-to-raid-Aston-Villa-for-Nathan-Delfouneso-article841746.html#.TuPqtZYVes0.twitter

He's one of those who has never really looked like he could be something special, but might get a second wind. He seems to be our fourth choice striker behind Bent, Gabby and Weimann (fifth if you count Heskey) so maybe a £3 million move would be best for all concerned.

I'd take Weimann just for the crack of being able to chant "Whey-Aye man!" ..........  If you don't know our local dialect that will mean nowt to you! .......... i'll get me coat!  ;)

Warnock is fine for our and Sunderland's level.

He can be a plank at times with his position and stupid giving away from free kicks but I don't think he's had that bad a season.

On the other side, you sure you don't want Hutton back Davey?! Was he really this bad when he was on loan for you?

;D To be honest he was class when he was on loan with us. We tried to get him permanent but apparently Spuds wanted about 8-9 million for him! I'd take him after seeing what he done while up here. The odd phsycopathic challenge but generally quality, and talented going forward on overlaps, Would you swap him for very handsome, male model type, invisible Argentine International?  :D  We've seen him more on his youtube model video than we have in a red n white shirt!

Ah Angeleri, dead ringer for Jonas Guiterezz isn't he?! Is Riveros still there?

I think it's fair to say if MON was still our manager, the Fonz would be a regular for us by now.

Edit: I think a loan would be the best solution as we'd look pretty stupid if we sold him for 2m and he then scored hatfuls for Sunderland. Much like when we sold Crouch to Southampton.

Well if Delfouneso can put them away, he is what we need, as Bendtner doesn't seem to like being in the opposition's box for some reason!

He's been that invisible that they could actually be the same bloke! Riveros is still ours, but is on loan somewhere, and i honestly don't know where! Bruce has a lot to answer for! Brought in a group of South Americans, and Africans, and all have gone or dissapeared within a year!

Davey I am an MO'N fan but he does tend to buy players and then for reasons only known to himself doesn't play them.  By the way, I assume Delf is the first step to playing like Barca.....

Surprised to see Stan listed. I'm not his biggest fan but surely we cant afford to lose our most experienced midfielder half way through the season.
Carlos doesnt really make sense either...only 6mths left on his contract so is it really worth selling him for £1m when he could be at least back up for Dunne or Collins?
Ireland. Waste of space and wages unfortunately.

No doubt Heskey will see out the remainder of his more than lucrative contract...just hope some moron doesnt offer him an extension.

You wont have that problem with the new boss.

Heh, heh! Aye, parts of our area aren't as "up to date" as others, but i've visited Birmingham plenty times to know its not much different to anywhere else!  ;)

Dont shoot me as its from that most reliable source, The People.

Quote
The new Black Cats boss has earmarked FOUR Villa players as possible targets in defenders Carlos Cuellar, Richard Dunne and James Collins, plus skipper Stiliyan Petrov – all of whom he signed for the Midlands club.

And O’Neill is confident he can land one of the defenders in January’s transfer window.

People Sport revealed last week that O’Neill desperately needs a new striker at the Stadium of Light, with Fulham hitman Andrew Johnson, 30, at the top of his list. Villa, too, have joined a number of clubs interested, among them QPR and Blackburn.

And we can reveal that representatives of Paris Saint-Germain’s 24-year-old hitman Mevlut Erdinc, have been in touch with Sunderland about a deal.

But O’Neill also has to tighten up at the back after seeing his side’s frailty first-hand at Wolves last weekend. He signed Cuellar from Rangers for £7.8million in August 2008.

The Spaniard is out of contract next summer and despite insisting he will see out the deal, Villa would prefer to accept £2m now rather than Cuellar going on a free in June.

O’Neill bought Dunne, now 32, for Villa from Manchester City in 2009 in a £5m deal and would love the Republic of Ireland man with him on Wearside.

Centre-back partner Collins, 28, joined from West Ham around the same time – and the pair made their debuts in a 1-0 derby defeat of Birmingham.

Midfielder Petrov was also a key member of O’Neill’s successful side at Celtic before joining his old boss at Villa for £6m in 2006.

McLeish won’t want to lose key players but said this week he must sell before he can buy in January.

Ideally, he would prefer the likes of Cuellar and Ciaran Clark, and midfielder Stephen Ireland, off his books.

Has McCleish given up on Clarke already without giving the kid a chance??

They can have the whole back line!

Make Cuellar captain and extend his contract, partnering Cuaten Clark. Then we can buy a few players as back up.
