The first two Nike kits were very good. Since they introduced the checks, they were pretty crap, and worse than this year's (home) effort. That said, I'm not sure the checks were Nike's idea... I heard Randy liked them, for some reason.

Macron certainly deserve credit for getting the, perfectly-reasonable if unspectacular, for getting the kit out promptly... Nike couldn't be arsed.

The one with the check panels down the side two years ago was one of the worst kits I've ever seen us play in - regardless of who made it.

Up close, I thought it looked even worse - I've seen better quality knock off gear in southern Europe.

I realise that the new kits are made of paper thin stuff that is light, breathes etc etc etc, but it just feels flimsy. I suppose that's ok if you are a footballer because you'll likely wear a few of those during the season and they won't really wear down. The best kits are still those Acorns sponsored kits made by Nike. I have the round neck version, and a mate of mine has a more v neck style. Both are made from much sturdier quality material and are excellent designs.

True, but the one with the checks was made from very flimsy material. It looked cheap as chips.

If you compare the Nike kits with the sober, classic, 1970  shirts, you see the they had not the proper shade of Villa claret.

While I don't find the Macron kit to be anything special, it's certainly head and shoulders above what Nike have provided for other clubs this season.

The kits they've done for Man Utd, Arsenal, Barcelona, etc have all been bloody awful.

As others have said, I think Macron let themselves down with the training/leisure gear.

The parents at my school have bought me the new Villa home shirt with my name and the number 33 on the back plus a Sports Direct gift voucher which was used this weekend to get the away shirt. I like both.

Christ that's generous of them, they must really like you. All my teachers ever got from parents were the odd box of chocolates.

Absolutely spot on. The Nike gear was absolute gash.

Just looking at the article on Chicago Villa (link in the pre-match thread) and in the photo he is wearing the new shirt standing next to a lady wearing one of the Nike tops.  The Nike shirt has the claret and the blue spot on.  Macron have got the claret verging on the old NTL shirt purple, and the blue is completely wrong, way too light, resulting in a kind of purple and lilac monstrosity. The design is okay but I dont understand why so many people like the kit when the colours are just obviously wrong.  I's much rather have a nasty quality Nike shirt in Villa colours than a reasonably well styled cock up in West Ham mauve and insipid.

My girlfriend is a teacher who has just left her job at a school in Wolverhampton, and I shit you not, one of her pupils insisted on bringing her a packet of bacon as his way of a gift!. He was only 5 mind. He said that he loves bacon so he thought that would be a good present.

Very nice bacon butties this morning.

Bacon is possibly the most desirable gift I could ever receive.

A bit rash.
