A nice touch is if you dont like the collar you can fold it inside the kit when you have it one and it looks like a normal v-neck

I think it's awful. The fit, yellow piping and horrible logo on the shoulders being the particularly worst bits. The collar looks a bit naff too.

They pay more than Nike (Everton getting 600k apparently) so I don't blame the club, and the hype from the marketing videos were fun, but the kit is terrible.

I think we'll miss Nike. The all around package, including leisure gear, was good in my view. Could never understand the grief Nike got here.

The collar on the new Macron kit isn't what it might have been. If they were basing it on the 80/81 kit they should have went the whole hog and given us a proper striped collar.

I'll wait to see the shirt myself before making a judgement but by the sounds of it the finished article doesnt live up to the hype and expectations from the videos...the collar, the yellow trim, the colours and the actual fit have all been criticised so far. Personally I'm most disappointed with the baggy fit rather than the modern slim design we were expecting.

Fits like a bin bag, is it actually claret? Looks more purple to me?

Everyone will think bits of it could be better and some will never be satisfied by anything but the general concensus today was that it's a decent design.

It's been a few years since I last bought a shirt but it sounds like this one would be good for me - the baggy fit would certainly suit my less than slender figure!

To release the shirt in the shops months after the season starts is shoddy at best. Good riddance to them.

That was poor. I'm just saying the era as a whole will be looked back on fondly...the stuff looks good.

I think if most fans were to design it themselves the basic premise would be almost identical to the new home one - claret body, blue sleeves and a Villa badge. I think it's going to be one of those kits that looks better when the players are wearing it in a game.

I haven't bought a new home or away shirt since 1998/99 (plenty of retro and training gear) but this is the closest I've come in the meantime to being genuinely interested in getting a current one. I think Macron have done a great job with regards to marketing the kits and the fact that they're available at an early stage is encouraging - I think it shows that a bit of thought has gone into it as opposed to Nike's attitude that seemed to be "Oh, give them another old PSV template and let them buy it at Xmas."

The Nike kits were nothing special.

The first three were good. I really liked the 07/08 one.

The styling of the new shirt seems closer to the Macron shirts of West Ham and Leeds than Napoli, which is disappointing. Having said that, as long as the shirt has a claret body and blue sleeves I'm relatively happy. For this reason I was relatively happy with all the Nike kits. Having said that, the only ones that I was tempted to buy were...

...which I think were all simple, and stylish (for polyester). Generally, changing kit design every season seems to heighten the need for 'difference' relative to what has gone before. Frivolous features such as yellow piping, or chequered patterns therefore become more critical. It must be difficult to come up with something original every year without deviating a little.

The Nike deal did have some prestige, but the recurring problems with release dates were unacceptable. They must have affected sales, and they also demonstrated where we sat in Nike's list of priorities. Therefore the club have definitely done the right thing in shopping around - and the size of the deal shows Macron's commitment to the project.

I don't buy every shirt, and without having seen it in the flesh I don't think I'm tempted to buy this one, but I'm certainly happy for the team to be wearing it on the pitch.

After listening to that impressive Italian chap with the scarf wax lyrical about the "pre-production" I was expecting a bead of Dennis Mortimer's spring '81 sweat in every shirt so to say it's a let-down would be putting it midly.

Seriously though, not bad at all. I don't like the Macron logo - a pity that their name with logo incorporated isn't sufficient and another stripe on the collar, which I like, would have been a more fitting homage to the boys of 1981 as was hinted at before. Yellow piping is a bit quirky but as has been mentioned it must be difficult to think of something slightly different every 12 months when every version must adhere to claret body and blue sleeves at all times.
A solid seven out of ten, kits usually look more impressive close-up.

As an aside, Holman's first mutterings as a Villa player on the video weren't exactly inspiring were they?!

Look ok, but not as good as some of the Nike kits. Don't really like the collars, and as others have said the away top looks like straining top. I find it hard to see us playing well in that top for some reason!
