I have reservations about Hughes-  chiefly his association with Kia Joorabchin.
But he would have been the obvious choice in the summer.

In fact, someone like him or Moyes would have been the 'safe' choices.  Not enough to automatically swell the gates, but competent managers at Prem level. Both can switch between styles of play depending on the situation and both can -if required- operate on a budget and still produce sides that don't make you want to spoon your own eyeballs out.

Who else in our league would have gone for McLeish if they had had a vacancy at around the same time?  I don't think there would have been a whole host of clubs beating a path to his door, in all honesty.

I don't think there would have been another club even considering him to be perfectly honest.

Mcleish himself must have been gobsmacked when he heard of our interest.

Jol for me, if it were possible. Can't remember/understand why he was ignored.

I enjoyed it when he got into shit at Spuds ( and was fired soon after) for being filmed laughing when the Villa fans were singing 'Happy Birthday dear Tottenham' when we were trouncing them.
In the post match interview he said he laughed because it was good British humour.

His teams play good football, commands respect, he has experience in the Prem and great international contacts.

I really can't stand Mark Hughes, but I'd have him in a heartbeat over what we're stuck with now.

The fact Hughes is associated with that gobshite Joorabchian means that few will be interested in his services. That guy is poison.

But I'd still consider taking the chance.

I'd have Knut Fnarrkkssonn who is doing wonders with B3457 of Torstillervk in the Faroes.
Either him or Jesus Wantsmeforasunbeam, currently top of the Guatemala second division with Deportivo Bighats.

There's no evidence to suggest he's lost the players that's pure speculation based on what appears to be wishful thinking. It's always trotted out by fans when they want easy answers. It then gets repeated and suddenly it's a fully formed theory.

He hasn't lost the players Chris, he just hasn't found them.

I just believe that sometimes an appointment is just wrong for a club, and as nice a guy as Mcleish is I don't think he's right for Villa. Watching us play at the moment is actually painful.

Keegan would be ace. He's got a proven track record of being as great manager, especially as he's never been known as a cheque book manager.

But he won't be interested and vice versa.

If and it's a big IF he was to be sacked, RL would have to pay him off and while it could be money well spent, I can't see him doing it.

As long as we remain in the Prem., RL will be chuffed.
