Fantastic news. Welcome Paul.
This is the most optimistic appointment in my time since Brian was appointed. Fills me with hope. Season tickets will be renewed in the next hour or so.
And yes I did place £10 when he was 10/1 at Paddypower on the day OGS was going to say yes!

Good appointment. A sensible choice.

The manager has an impressive recent record and combined with decent backing that should see us improving steadily next season. Top priority should be to sort out the midfield and keep Bent, and nurturing Weimann as a decent back-up. We'll still have a shabby defence, but with more steel in midfield and a setup to create chances for Bent, upper mid-table should be within reach. As the season progresses, Bert should start planning the rebuilding of the defence next summer when Collins, Dunne and Warnock leave on free transfers.

Now that it's official, I'm obviously very happy and proud if this thread operated as a lucky charm to bring Lambert at VP! The 1st time that I talked about this dream  was in Venice, in March 2011, with Rob Bishop  Garry Thompson and Frank The Legend Pattison! Thay gazed at me as if I were an extraterrestrial as Norwich wer in championship whereas Villa had in charge an international manager as GH, but at the end the dream came true. . . ;)

I trust your footballing judgement, Archie, so you have significantly improved my outlook on this appointment!

Man in his early 40s takes on Aston Villa as his 5th job in football management. Amongst his previous clubs where he enjoyed success was Norwich City.

This one?

Until Randy Lerner and his useless work men leave this club, then we will never see a good manager at this club again. Firstly, I'd doubt they would even sack McLeish if he finished us 17th because they're too arrogant to admit they made the wrong choice. Plus it would be absoutely pathetic we paid compensation to get rid of Houllier to make way for McLeish who we had to pay for only to sack him with more money down the drain where we could have bought 2-3 quality players.  And even by some miracle our shit manager does fuck off, the board will hire probably someone even worse.

I agree Paul Lambert would have been a very fine choice. But the board have wet dreams about Premier League experience so he was never gonna come here. Instead, they would prefer to have a safe man with  has 2 Premier League relegations on his C.V. As long he has the 'experience'.

Another good one would be Gus Poyet. Some who's young and knows the modern game. Not the stale useless scotsman we have now.

So yeah, the only we can start a fresh is to get rid of the board. Until then, it's gonna get worse.

Also, it is nice to see a reference on the OS from someone likee Hitzfeld rather than, I dunno, Kris Boyd or someone.

What a way to start the long weekend who cares about the Jubilee, I'm celebrating hopefully the new King of Aston Villa!

Cant wait to get back down to Villa Park now, glad I renewed the Day McLeish was sacked.

It will be nice just to have an expectation of Competing

Welcome aboard Paul Lambert.

Even though you're younger than me, I'll resist the temptation to pat you on the head and talk about the old days (Mainly because I suspect you'd remove my legs from under me, before I was half way through the first sentence).

You'll have heard all kinds of garbage about Villa supporters, truth is we're no different to any other lot really.  We think you are the luckiest man in the world, because you now manage the most beautifully named football club in the world, but that won't stop us being one hundred percent behind you from the start and not just because you aren't the last bloke.  We think and we hope you'll give us a team that will try, that will walk off the pitch knackered because they've given it all and that scores goals and that's really all we ask in truth.
