I would like us to win with style and I don't think that's too much to ask. I've alluded to it earlier but I really think Lambert is looking towards trying to develop a passing style for his team, and I saw signs of it when Norwich played last year. I think he can get us playing good football and winning.

Colchester batter Norwich 7-1 away and within the blink of an eye, Lambert becomes the Norwich boss. Norwich batter Villa 2-0 (could have been 7) on the last day of the season and before another Premier League ball is kicked, he becomes Villa's new manager (I'm assuming). Is there a pattern emerging here? I just hope we don't run up a cricket score against Man U next season.

We all know he will do the same to us as he did to Colchester or Norwich the day a really big job comes up. Let's just hope that by then he's done enough to warrant it.

Another pleasing aspect is that unlike Houllier and O'Leary, there isn't another Premiership club to which he will be comparing us unfavourably against.  This is the biggest job of his career.

I hope the deal goes through.
He seems to have a strong football philosophy built on attacking, upsetting the opposition and winning. Total oposite of AM.
I'm getting quite excited at the prospect of seeing some good football (and I suspect a lot of changes!) at VP.

I can also take the piss out of my Norwich-supporting mate at work!

Fun times!

All this Lambert/MOn thing is pissing me off! On what premise? That he played for Celtic, he's male, went to Morrisons on a Friday? It's ridiculous, I get the feeling whoever Villa appoint they would be moaners so why don't we just support our club? As for MON, was it really that bad? After the last couple of years top 6 finishes and cup runs seem a long way off. At times his 'style' produced some great football/results and we reguarly stuck 3 and 4 past teams at certain points through his reign. Unfortunately we have a fan base that contains some idiots who watch Barca and expect everyone to do the same.

1975 was my 'right of passage' year with Villa, first visit to VP! Damn, nearly four decades, where did they go?

Same year for me - were we gloryhunters then? ;-)

That's because there aren't many bigger jobs than Villa.

I know what you mean, but then ... I'd love it if we did!

i can remember like yesterday Villa beating Norwich in the league cup final 1975,
Ray Graydon goal which was a bona fidi goal and not a penalty as it was saved onto the post and Ray put in the rebound in open play,  95000 were there to see it

I'll renew my ST as soon as he's appointed, simple as that.

A new era, a new dawn, let's just hope PF and RL don't cock this one up.

I have being reading some very bitter comments from Norwich fans. They strike me as uppety wankers for a no mark who have had two good seasons in the past twenty years.

Good by their standards. Certainly not by ours.

They came across as twats as Carrow Road. No sense of humour. Twelve-toed freaks.

I was looking at one of their forums earlier, and they did seem to be being unnecessarily unpleasant about us.  One Villa fan had put something to the effect of "Canariestalk (or whatever), funny name for a Real Madrid forum!"

That's what I hate about newly promoted clubs.

One half decent season and they think they're Barcelona.
