I don't do twitter but I'm gathering it's Mat Kendrick. He's released a video on YouTube today on his Claret and Blue podcast channel showing him talking to William and chatting about it.

They're no longer with us but Mom and Dad took me and my twin BorderVilla down to Villa Park over 6 decades ago. We've been going ever since.

Without them we wouldn't have been in Rotterdam in '82 or in Istanbul last night.

So thanks to both of them from both of us.

I wish TNT would tone down the Prince William coverage a bit. I’m pleased he’s there and so supportive, but I don’t need to see his reaction to everything in real time.

GET OUT.

+1 for the Ulster posse.

My great grandad was an English catholic who married a woman who was the daughter of first generation Irish immigrants. I think she was born in Ireland. Either way, he joined the army at the start of WWI and his regiment was sent to Ireland in 1916. He wasn’t trusted so he was sent to the Western front instead. He was disciplined more than once for ‘failing to keep up’ on marches. I thought it was because he was relatively old, but it turns out he kept staying in the pub every time they got to a village. But, back on topic, I am a fervent republican, in both senses of the word and am appalled at myself for finding Mr W. Windsor’s affection for our club quite touching.

Same here.

Mind you, I'd still let him in once he's been busted to the ranks.

I'm always touched by how many former players seem to genuinely love the club, regardless of where else they've played and even if they're not Villa born and bred.

Agreed, I think they really apprecaite the rich and unique history which not everyone knows about, thanks to a combination of not being in the Sky6 and our typical Brummie understatment.

I also think the OTT and irrational hatred of the other clubs in our region creates a bit of a 'them and us' siege mentality from those that have had to live amongst it, especially the likes of B Bannan, J Carew and A Young who have all revelled in the unwashed various hilarious misfortunes.  They never forget.

2 that really spring to mind are Merson and Dublin because I associate one with Arsenal and the other with Cov. Not saying they don't have big affection for their other clubs, they do. Just they both seem to love Villa.

Whilst my brother was still in Istanbul yesterday, my niece, his daughter, also a villa fan, was in Cornwall. I've just been sent a video of her chatting to Prince William, and Villa fans are discussed. No sign of a hangover.

Pah.
Didn't realise how many people support Aston Villa in the north of Ireland, just coming over from Derry airport and talking to a girl from Buncranna who told me the Villa well supported there, amazingly she  was related to a old friend

Cambridge has (or had, not sure if it's still going) a Northern Ireland Villa supporters club. There were only about 15 people in it but that's not too bad, really.

A group of Northern Irish Villa supporting individuals living in Cambridge is a bloody niche demographic.
