So we’re still in for Harold Wilson, Mari Wilson and Wilson Pickett then?

We'd be waiting till midnight to sign the last one on transfer deadline day. And then the transfer would all come tumbling down.

She's no Beth Lynch but Corrie is a bit of a struggle these days, generally.

Don't know where to put this, but sort of belongs here.

Yesterday I was at one of the companies in the group I work for. They do logistics, so vans / lorries full of stuff on palettes, in the midlands but not near Brum.

I went to the canteen for the first time, and on top of the display box thing they had drinks in, someone had stuck a miniature Gordon Cowans figure and a Nigel Spink one (see image, like these things).

When I was leaving, I asked the guy serving "Who is the Villa fan, then?" and pointed at the figures.

He pointed at the Nigel Spink one and said "he did, he's one of our drivers, and he came in one day and stuck them there"

Which I thought was quite a nice story.

Nice story, Nigel Spink was the son-in-law of one of my Mum and Dad's friends and I saw him a few times at Mass at the Abbey in Erdington when I was down visiting my folks. Conversely, it's a stark example of the money earned by players in his era and now - I somehow can't see a European Cup winning player of today's eta working as a delivery driver some time after they retire.

My brother had Derek Mountfield and Marco van Basten (Netherlands, rather than Milan).
