Mildly surprised to note he has moved to Watford. He looked a reasonable squad player to me

I was a little surprised too, I don't ever think he'll be a star but he was decent in the challenge and could get about the pitch.

When you're looking to close a game out he'd be a decent third man in midfield putting pressure on the ball.

Was never likely to be anywhere near the first team, especially with the arrival of Jenas.  Not surprised at all.

I was a little surprised he was shipped off. I didn't really expect any of our immediate youth to leave, let alone a center midfielder. I thought he was a strong player and couldn't complain about his work rate. Though, he would rarely ever see first team football at Villa, he was a good asset to have that didn't seem to get jittery in games.

I hope he does really well and can find his way back into the Prem.

It doesn't appear that Hogg was "shipped off". From his quotes on da Beeb, it seems that is was his choice to leave

Agreed, never going to cut it week in week out in the upper echelons of the premier league.

At 22, he either had to be getting games or moving on.Decent player who will IMO go onto have a respectable career.

The day GH, through no other choice due to injury, paired him and Bannan against the red filth my heart went in my mouth

for 60 minutes they ran United ragged, even the cnut Fergie stated that we should have won by 6 - whether they could have continued like that we will never know

Looked a decent player, especially against Man Yoo last season.  Remains to be seen if he is longer term PL standard I suppose.

Neither do I.

Decent at the start but he was massively out of his depth in the Spurs game on boxing day, should've been sent off before half time.
