This is very off topic but yesterday I read a review of one of Bobby Womack's recent gigs where he was so tired at the end of the show that he took his microphone into the dressing room and sang his encore from a seat in there. 

Bobby Womack has been seriously ill recently so this does not surprise me Chico, a truly great soul man.

A bit? Most if not all of the footballers on this thread are not here to defend themselves.

None of the others are ex-Villa players accused of fighting in a car park.

Why would solicitors be interested? If it's not true then i doubt that it would cause any uproar. if it is then the solicitors cannot do or say anything especially if there were witnesses. Also, you could argue that there is a public interest naming waring villa players from the 1982 squad, especially on a Villa forum.

I understand your site your rules but surely as a journalist you'd be extolling freedom of sppech? If, of course, it doesn't lead to legal issues. Which I can't see this would.

I'm a Solicitor and whilst I don't handle this sort of case personally, if one of these people was named on here as having had a fight in a public place when that was not true they would have a nailed on claim for defamation.

I agree. But given the supposed size of the argument/slanging match there would have been enough witnesses to confirm the event took place.

As it is I doubt that the families on either side would like to drag this into the public arena seeing that they have kept a lid on it for some time. But that's a different issue.

In the main it's a pity that two of the players from our most successful period should be at loggerheads. You never get on with everybody you play with but the success of the team and the passage of time you'd have thought they would have moved on. Anyway, my last word on the subject.

"I met x and I thought he was an a******e" is an expression of opinion and probably not defamatory. Any named footballer on here who is accused of something, untruthfully, which would lower him in the reputation of right minded people generally or cause people to shun him could in theory sue. Whether many of them would choose to do so I doubt, but fanzine forums have been sued for defamation in the past.

It has been alleged earlier in this thread that Steve Staunton has a wang the size of a baby's arm on him. If I was him i'd file a lawsuit and then very publicly concede defeat by turning up to court in a pair of cycling shorts.

I have met a few from all clubs. The best - - Matt Murray in Bambu, Richard Sneekses at his restaurant and Dion Dublin at V Festival bought me a pint.

The worst? Stan Collymore, Lee Hughes and Paul Tait.
