I think some overestimate the publics perception  of politics in this country, we all know how it affects our lives, but so what. Most people reckon that we'll be taxed somewhere between x and y and the cost of living will be somewhere between a and b. And generally speaking we will be in a war somewhere. That will generally be the scenario. And all these important things to discuss and debate, and you know what, one episode of Corrie or Eastenders will smash all the viewing figures for the combined total for every political programme in a week.

Villan1975: get a life.  Really.  ;)
'A customer means more than a voter.'  Sounds like management speak to new recruits at Harrods.  What's your job?

He just says he supports the Villa but doesnt turn up ( a bit like GregNash).

You don't think that....... No it can't be, can it?
Is Greg Nash really David Cameron?

Is this the conspiracy theory to go with the racist and religious bigot thread?

Crikey, can you imagine the shit he would get on here if he supported Manure Chelsea Liverpool? He is a Villa fan as far as i am concerned and i am pleased about it.

What if Nick Griffin decided he was a Villa fan?

At the risk of getting banned (and I respect everything you do on this site and for H&V generally) but that is a totally ridiculous comment. Cameron is the leader of a mainstream political party and our Prime Minister, his party won the most votes (what was it 11 million?) and his government represents 60% of the votes won at the last election. You really think he's the same as that scum Griffin who represents a bunch of racist scum?

You make my point about 'bitter socialists' perfectly. You dont agree with him, fair enough, but comparing him to someone who is a racist isn't on.

I'm quite proud the Prime Minister, the future King, the Governor of the Bank of England and Hollywoods' most succesful actor all support our team. And I had great pleasure in telling the smug Spurs-supporting prick who does guided tours of Wembley as such last year. The best he could offer was Bruce Forsyth and Jude Law.

Why would saying that get you banned?

That lump Sir Digby Jones is a Villa fan. Talks "common sense", pity it is always about some poor buggers losing their job/pension/employment rights etc so theat industry can flourish.

Git.
Vile fat waste of skin.
He once had the sheer nerve to moan about workers 'wanting too much of the cake' when that fat bastard single handedly got Firkins out of administration with his constant pastry chomping.

He's another one of these
'English workers lazy, unions evil, too much holiday entitlement for the English'  lot.

I wish he'd disappear up his amply fat arse, the fucking piece of shit that he is.

At least Cameron displays some degree of humanity with his admiration of the NHS, Digby Jones just sees us as ungrateful parasites trying to get a bite of his Greggs pasty.

I'm not sure about the Nick Griffin comparison either, unless i'm missing Dave's point.

One of the downsides of selling shirts to the general public is anyone can buy one  but i still think Villa should consider legal action for damage to our brand name.

Over the years I've come into contact many Villa-supporting people with, what I consider, to be quite repulsive views on all manner of subjects.  I have, though, found I can forget these for the duration of sharing our common interest.

If I was stuck on a train with Nick Griffin, it would actually be quite a relief if I knew that I could limit any conversation to the midfield line up for the coming season, the conspiracy theories behind MON's resignation and whether the team of 80-82 would have triumphed in Rotterdam had Doug been chairman.

The root of the problem is that most people (and include myself in that) don't fully understand the minutia of economic theory or the global politics that over-arch everything else.  Consequently it becomes easy for some to spout the "all politics is shit" refrain, which ignores the fact that every aspect of their life is governed by it.  The very soap operas you cite, for example, are only broadcast because of a whole raft of political decisions.

It is also a mind-set that gives people the excuse they need not to get involved in any aspect of the democratic process, including the aspects where they can have a direct and immediate influence on their own community.  We are currently seeking a new Parent Governor for the school's Governing Body.  I know from the school gate moaning that there are plenty who think they can run the school single-handedly.  I think though you can make an accurate guess as to how many nominations we've so far had to fill the position.

That, or people like you, are not the problem. You are quite clearly bright enough to know what you don't know. The problems stem from the other 90% who know everything.
