ahh - scratch that then. I thought his contract was up and they didn't renew it.

It will probably be Foster and we'll probably get assraped for the fee, but he's pretty solid keeper.

Is Guzan still on our books? - never really seen him play. I know he had that good game against Sunderland in the league cup, but other than that....

I quite like Kirkland as a keeper - if we're on a budget, it would be a reasonable shout  I think.
Kirklands awful. Been replaced at Wigan which should say alot
Guzan played well in a few of the cup games but I don't really rate him, fumbles the ball way too much

Robinson has IMO been the best English Keeper for the last two years, even better than Hart, so he'd be my first choice.I've never been totally convinced by Foster though al of the Nosers at work tell me that he's a good 'keeper.
One who hasn't been mentioned yet, Kcuscyak (sp) from Man United

I don't see any reason why we need to replace Guzan as second choice. He's not perfect, but very few keepers are at that age and none of them are going to be happy being our reserve.

We also have Andy Marshall.
Who obviously should be used as a last-resort and to continue helping out in the reserves while our new keeper performs brilliantly and Guzan provides useful backup.

I'm not really doing that well in this thread hey?

I had Kirkland in my fantasy team a couple of seasons back and he did ok....

Bring back Bozzie

I'd like Shay Given

I think its absolutely nailed on we will get Ben Foster - who for me, is a slightly better Scott Carson, always prone to a mistake. Looked great at the blues because of the amount of times he was called in to action. Was poor at Man Utd, and Paul Robinson scored past him at Watford !! He nearly made the same mistake again at the end of this season too.

Talk of Shay Given. Who would you like and who do you think it will be?

Rated him for yrs as one of the top goalies in the prem when at NU. Given would be a very good signing IMO.

I rate Given too.  I've not seen him make as many mistakes in his entire career as the likes of Foster and Green make in one season.

Given is quality and seems to be a good influence in the dressing room too. Also, he would probably cost less than half what Foster would. He's getting on but should still have three good years in him.

McGregor for both. With AM in charge he could get him in with the Rangers links n' all.

McGregor penning new deal with Rangers keeping him here until 2016
would need IMO a bid of over £10m now to tempt us.

McLeish and him had a falling out a while back when Stefan Klos was injured and he brought an experienced keeper in to replace him, so don't know if McLeish would have that good a chance of tempting the shagger to Villa Park.

Like Sebastian Frey
Realistic  Shay Given or Ben Foster

Blast from the past that. We were linked with Frey a few years back, had forgot all about him.  Is he still at Fiorentina? Looked good when we played them back in 2009.

Frey is still first choice as far as i know he was injured last year for a bit though,
Boruc is his understudy and on look out for new club now so maybe a Bid for Frey could tmpt thm into keeping hold of Boruc
I wouldn't mind Boruc tbh!

Boruc is a decent keeper tbh but carries way too much baggage.

Shay Given is hardly getting on when it comes to goalkeepers - he's "only" 35 which means we would get more than 2 or 3 years out of him

We've just let go of a 40 year old keeper.... who then went and got a 2 year contract elsewhere...
