I like how McLeish is quick with transfers. MON used to piss about last minute.

My Blackpool-supporting friend reckons that the January speculation, coupled with the usual case of a promoted team eventually being worked out, meant that Adam had a poor few months.  He does though reckon he'd be a good acquisition for most mid-table to Europa League team - e.g. Villa.

Is it not the case that Eck broke off his holiday to join Villa and so he is probably back on holiday now so we won't be signing anyone for a few days at least?

If its true, I didnt expect us to move so quickly which clearly sends out a message of intent or a way to appease the fans. If hes worked with AM before then lets hope thats a good thing and a deciding factor. Even the most anti-AM fans must see this as a good thing if it comes off. Hope we manage to land Adam, quickly followed by bids for Foster and N'Zogbia (after all...we are in Dave Wheelans good books!).

What was that in? I heard him speak really highly of us and said what a big club we are, although I also heard him say that he reckoned Martinez would be manager of Real or Barca etc
Did you see Whelan's comments re us today?
Reckons Martinez is too good to manage a club like Villa and he'll be at one of the really top clubs in the future!
Knob! Has he been talking to Gollum?

Pure speculation on my part, but I'd imagine having been given this opportunity, whilst he might want to continue his holiday, career considerations will be more important.

My firm's got a Blackpool office, and the manager there is a big Blackpool fan and would agree with you.  I think Adam's a decent player and as you say, for somebody like Stoke or Bolton, would probably do a very good job indeed.  I just don't seem him at somewhere bigger like Liverpool or Spurs somehow.

I'd like to see him play for us. Him and Jean II Makoun could be good midfield duo.

Isn't he 'being revealed' om Monday?  I assumed that means a press conference so he may already have given up his holiday to get on with the job, including transfers.

I agree.  I just can't see Liverpool being interested in him.  Not so much because they paid 20 mill for Henderson, more because he is too liberal and free spirited for their style of play. I think they are likely to go for foreign players.  I also read that they have a centre back lined up and have given their Greek fella another years contract, doesn't sound like they want Dann to me.

I've never seen Adam play in the flesh, but from what I've seen of him on Sky and MOTD, I think his ability in and around the box and his dead ball skills would be a plus. But as a few others have said his lack of pace could be a worry. Nine or ten million quid is a lot to pay for someone who would be a bit of a gamble, get the price down to six or seven, maybe. Then there's Bannan, why spend all the time, effort and money on him at the academy and then he leaves because he can't see himself getting a chance at the Villa? I could see that happening and he moves to a club and comes back to haunt us in the near future.
Much better to concentrate on a GK and our defensive frailties.

It is only press speculation thus far.

I like Adam, but 9 million? Really?
