I'll admit that as Blues manager I had a grudging respect for him because I thought he was an OK bloke, who always showed us a bit of respect.  He obviously knew we were top dog in town, unlike other twats like Fry and Francis who probably believed what the pissed-up pricks down at the XTRA AM forum told them.

Fucking hell, Glenn Hoddle? Really?

Not suggesting any 1 name there, more an exercise in pointing out there are many candidates out there, I could have put up Keegan, Strachen, somebody mentioned George Graham, there are decent No2's we could look at like Brian Kidd, point is there are many many options other than McKliesh thats for sure.

Brian Kidd took Blackburn down, three seasons after they were champions

Again Not suggesting any 1 name as we should get him, what i'm saying is we haven't even tried to look IMO, and how does Kidd compare to Mcliesh, not a lot in it.....

Well Brian Kidd was a United assistant when they won things, he left and they still won things...so his impact doesn't seem significant

Not quite. Man Utd went through a fallow period (well, fallow by their standards) when he left. Didn't they go a couple of seasons without winning anything?

I'm not one for protests, that's rather "Fearish", but I have give this some thought. I don't think that it is the duty of Fans to decide who or who should not be the next Manager. Lerner has gained more than enough favour for us to trust him, but there is also a responsibility from his side to get a Manager that will take this club forward. I honestly believe that that in Houllier he tried that and perhaps with a full pre-season takes us back to the edge of the European placements or higher.

However, I cannot believe that the Board have even considered McLeish for the job. I'm not anti him as a person and by all accounts, he is a decent fella, but a Manager that has taken down a club twice in 3 seasons under whatever circumstances, should not even be on the radar. Managing the Great Unwashed merely exacerbates the situation.

If he becomes Manager, then the 2 ST's that I would be buying won't happen. I've had a bit of a sabbatical for the last 2 years, but have still been home and away, with a bill for £1000 for the LC Final alone,  just so that me and the lad could be there.

I'm in admiration for those that say that they Support the Club and not the Manager, I've always been of the same ilk, but in this case I think that the Board, if they appoint AM, have crossed a line and indeed a point of no return with a lot of Supporters.

What a shame that it's come to this.

Spot on, Lee.

It makes you wonder how on earth we approached those candidates we ranked above AM in order to find ourselves locked in an unseemly battle with Small Heath for his services.

Then there are other questions, such as

- why, oh why drag Houllier out (clean bill of health) screaming and kicking and pay him millions to go away, only to appoint McLeish?

- when drafting that stupid statement today, I noticed they didn't refer to record of success in the criteria they are using. Instead, they refer to "premiership experience". What experience do they have in mind? The one season out of three he has avoided relegation perhaps? Or maybe it was last season's average of less than one goal a game?

- after alienating a good chunk of the support last year, how do they think they're going to get them back with this appointment? How are they going to sell season tickets on the back of this?

- Why spend so long cultivating fan relations only to piss the large part of it up the wall by making a ludicrous appointment like this?

If you look at our progression from MON -> GH -> AM it is nigh on impossible to see us as anything but a club which is quite clearly going backwards. For them to tell us otherwise is, frankly, taking the piss.

It really absolutely beggars belief, I still can not believe he is under serious consideration. Let alone being in the first five or six choices, he shouldn't be on the first five or six pages.

The remarks Sir Graham made yesterday met with one or two negative responses, but it looks like he was once again, spot on. What a mess.

From a positive point of view. AM seems to want the job, and if appointed Randy will back him. He must be confident he can succeed here, given the backlash that this has caused. I know that blues were dull under him (nothing new there) but with better players, then he can make it work.

Of course he'll take it.

He'll be walking away with 3 or 4 million pounds when it inevitably goes tits up at the end of the season, and we're forced to rebuild again.

I work with a few Noses, one in the same Team and he is a sound lad and a ST holder at the Sty. By and large, the banter is good natured and the footy talk is on the level and he knows what he is on about (and knows his place).

He cannot believe that we are even considering McLeish in any form. I know he won them something, but the amount of times he has come in on a Monday Morning and said "what a fucking pile of cack that was the weekend", frightens me.

Also, he came out with a stat that I found interesting too, but have not checked. That Blues are one of the biggest NET spenders in the Premier League, ie what they have laid out and had nowt in return -  are the figures to hand to check?

It's quite clear that they haven't got any common sense if McLeish is in the running for the job.
