The problem is not whether McLeish has the capacity to do a decent job at Villa Park, it's the fact that he won't be allowed to by the fans.

It would have to start earlier than that by persuading players like Downing to stay.  Can you see McLeish doing that where Houllier seemed to fail?  No, nor can I.
