It's massively sad that we can but aspire for 5th or 6th.

I think we can certainly compete with Spurs and Liverpool this season. Spurs will have the joy of Europa League competition to contend with, and just because they've spunked a combined £75m on Carroll, Henderson and Downing, Liverpool aren't any better than us. Furthermore, Arsenal will be severely weakened if they lose Fabregas and/or Nasri.

So its a Villa v Chelsea final.

Chelsea won this trophy when it first started in 2003. I guess their fans get their own back at the moment by singing "Have you ever won the Asian cup , the Asian cup, the Asian cup ? "

2003 is as far back as most Chelsea fans I know can remember so I don't think you can hold that against them

The day I see thousands of twats supporting the Villa like there were in the stadium today bedecked in their 'team colours', taking photos of anything that moves and having absolutely no link at all to the team they support other than they see them on TV every week and they win things will probably be the day I give up on my beloved team. Actually, come to think of it, I've just described most Chelsea fans I know over here too. At least that lot today created more atmosphere than you will ever see at Stamford Bridge...

Did you see the banner "Mongolian Blues'?

What chance do we have for World Domination.

P.S. Perhaps they were from B9

There's a city up north between Beijing and North Korea called 'Dalian'.  That's our starting place for a campaign ending in overall dominance of Asian football affinity with the Premier League and especially the Villa.

Clicky

God, sorry - no idea it was this complicated.  I just saw a map and identified a city!

Tell you what.  Google: China map.  you'll get one big one and 5 smaller ones.  Go for the first of the smaller ones from Lonelyplanet.

And thanks to the mods for the clickything!

Just watching the highlights, and we are playing good stuff and Warnock and Dunne look committed which is nice. Kit looks great.

Also good to see Given doesn't appear to have lost anything.

just watched the highlights on SP2 and quietly impressed TBH

still can`t understand Heskey though - everyone except him left that pitch (including the linesmen) covered in sweat!

i know one swallow doesnt make a summer and all that cobblers but i am more positive about next season

bit harsh. I thought Heskey worked really hard, made a great goal line headed clearance and had a major hand in the goal.

Thought Heskey today and against Walsall did very well. Mcleish will keep him. He will keep all the experienced players to help the younger players over the season ......

Bit worried about Dazza scoring freely in pre-season matches...don't want him him drying up early  when the season starts!

Don't worry about Darren. If he stays fit he will be knocking them in by the hat full this season.

Don't see why we need a dcm, Makoun will play deep, pick the ball off the centre halves and keep the play ticking over, we also have Petrov for this role.  We need a box to box player alongside them, a Parker or a Milner imo, Delph is one option  here but we need one more experienced player too.

If Benty stays fit all season, we'll be alright.
