Well,  they've gone and done the unthinkable.

Its not that he's an ex-nose, it's not that his record of PL survival is poor and it's not the feeling we've missed a big opportunity to hire a 'statement' manager.

No, the biggest disappointment for me is that they knew how we felt.........and they went ahead and did it anyway. I defended Randy Lerner to the hilt last week but all this makes me feel duped. It's like you've been shit on by someone you thought was a mate.

If Lerner thinks McLeish is the best man available then he has to back his judgement. He cannot be dictated to by the fans. He will have to be accountable for his decision but I am glad he made it. It shows he is strong willed.

There were only two PL teams worse than McLeish's and it looks like RL is going to make him manager and give him a pay rise.

Fuck my old boots, this is a load of bollocks.

Absolutely spot on.

I will add that our club's history is littered with Scots who have helped to make it the finest and the most important.

...and then again, Billy McNeill...
And William McGregor, without who none of us would have anything to look forward to on a Saturday afternoon.
Or the beautiful rampant lion on our crest.

A truly crazy decision, given the way it will and has divided Villa fans. It's also a real statement of intent as to our ambitions. But this is our austerity period and we must live through it. The honeymoon is most certainly over, and the next few years will be all about consolidation and stability, let's make no bones about that. Still, the die is cast and we must now get behind the team. It goes without saying that I sincerely hope Lerner proves us all wrong and that the big man is a success of Ron Saunders proportions. Let's get on with it.

I bet nick's glad that you're listing all the things he actually thought we'd be intelligent enough to work out for ourselves

I was gutted about that article until I read the part about Reyes. Not a chance would he come back to England.

Never come across that on my many visits north of the border.  Do they deep fry it?

I think it was an insult / term of endearment? Unless it was Scottish Cherries?
