Surely now Jol is Fulham boss we can tak to Hughes ? Unless Jol is starting July 1st I guess ...

Just a thought, it may be bollocks, but here goes. Maybe Hughes was in our plans all along, but it could be that he's been made a better offer elsewhere, so we've had to do something drastic and drastic is an understatement.

A long time since I've posted anything (as I normally just like to read). However, I think a few people need to calm down(although I do live 100 miles from Brum, so removed from the emotion).
I've seen and heard a lot of people on tv , radio and social networking sights threatening not to renew their season tickets.
After 36 years supporting this great club, I think we should remember players & managers come & go. The club will always be here and so will we, so let's get behind whoever is appointed.
Not doing so, will just make it more difficult for players and manager alike.
And, I am renewing regardless!

Recap on the last few hours please. I've been out trying to numb my mind with Alcohol, unsuccessfully.
I realise this club is possibly about to take a massive shit on itself by interviewing McLeish but if there's anything of note to report, let's have it.

I am steeling myself for the worst but hoping for a reprieve. Thanks a fucking lot Villa.

Another reason to hope he does well if, heaven forbid, it is him is I don't think I could cope with this shite for a third straight year.

On a serious note can the Blues complain to the Premier League? Would it not be the football league?

cant name names, but have been advised of this :

McLeish is first choice but Lerner is concerned about the fans reaction. Source: inside Villa is all I'll say.
Season ticket sales matter I guess. Keep an eye on the fans forums because if they are in any way positive towards AM then he'll be signed.

so, say NO to McLeish.............you have been warned!

like i said sunday, say NO to McLeish

By the way Randy, how is the 5 year plan going? Champions league imminent???

Copy of email sent to club.

I'm sorry but I find the statement issued this evening to be patronising to the fans.
To talk of "A shared vision" when there doesn't appear to be a vision at board level as to the type of football they want to see played. First you make an approach for Roberto Martinez, a manager who has the philosophy of playing passing, attacking football. And when you don't get him you go for Alex McLeish a manager whose philosophy is the very antithesis of the passing game.
If McLeish is the boards vision then I'm sorry but that vision isn't shared by the fans.
It has nothing to do with where he was previously employed, but everything to do with his style of football. Not just at BCFC, he has used the same tactics at Glasgow Rangers and as manager of Scotland.
The only 'success' he has had has been at Rangers, where lets be honest it isn't the most difficult job to win the League. And the Coca Cola cup last season.
If his footballing philosophy was more entertaining then I'm sure the fans would be more willing to accept him.

AVFC Official site release a statement saying they love, I mean they will interview AM. The media are saying he will be ours shortly. The blues release a statement written by a ten year old saying they are taking action against us for tapping him up. Theres been lots of swearing, no ones ever going to Villa Park again. Apart from tomorrow at 6pm to be shouty.

OK, so 90% who have voted don't want McLeish as manager. Translate that to say a 40,000 attendance (not a chance of that now Randy, I'm afraid) means that 36,000 don't want McLeish as manager.

Are the board insane?

Relegated TWICE.

Least amount of goals.

Least amount of corners.

DROSS.

Do you seriously want to put Aston Villa Football Club in the hands of somebody like McLeish? This isn't a idle threat but if he is appointed manager I will not, under any circumstances, be buying a season ticket for the upcoming season.

It makes me wonder if McLeish is really the best the board could come up with, why didn't we just keep GMac in caretaker charge with GHou convalescing in a DOF role until he was either a) well enough to come back b) sure in his own mind that he needed repalcing and found his own succesor. I mean the 'statement' does talk about continuity and a shared vision. I assume that the board and Houllier had a shared vision, hence them giving him the job in the first place. What better way to have a linear progression for the club?
