What hurts most is that throughout Randy Lerner's time here he's always shown consideration for the fans. How the hell can he even consider McLeish? What a massive kick in the bollocks!

If for some reason it doesn't end up being McLeish, who the fuck is below him on the list of candidates? And how will they feel if they believing we thought they were considered worse than him when we approach them?

just saying what i heard and gardener may join him he doesnt want to move his family

"I've supported Villa since I was a lad y'know. I was there standing on my dad's shoulders at Wembley when we beat Leeds in '96."

Craig Gardner, upon resigning for Villa in a few weeks time.

did the little rat really say that? Him and his family used to drink the Ring O Bells pub in yardley (burnt down now) and they all used to follow the villa.  Cant believe he admitted to being a noses when he signed for them and i cant believe he sad the above statement!

gardners mum has always been a massive blues fan and certainly never followed villa!

For what it's worth I've emailed the club about the 'statement' to voice my unhappiness. The press will run amok and all Villa fans will be branded as blinkered idiots who care more about their rivals than their own club. If they bothered to read 10% of comments on fansites they would know the real reasons we don't want Mcleish.

I just had to vent somehow while I get the torch and pitchfork ready for tomorrow...

I have always supported Randy and the way we did thing's but this is nothing short of a kick in the balls for us fan's.The simplified concept that we don't want him because he is ex blues is quite honestly condesending in the extreme. If he had won the cup with them ,if they had finished above us consitantly I would have no problem stealing him from them..the fact his the cup victory seems to be clouding their judgement.

I guess if he is appointed then I will back him but I give him 6 months untill his position is seriously under fire and then what for Randy.2 failed managerial appointments and again Sponsership issues who the hell is advising him.I think he wants us to be a big club but if he neither has the cash or the skill to move us forward then he should go I don't doubt for a second he could get a buyer.

Well it kinda makes you think really, perhaps just perhaps Villa fans are now getting a snifter of maybe the kind of thing MON had to contend with which inturn would explain why he phuked of so suddenly, if this goes wrong it won't just go a bit wrong it will be a disaster, i could even see the Championship being a real possibility after this season, and what chance is there of McLiesh keeping hold of the likes of Young, Bent, Downing and most of all can you see Gabby Agbonlahor playing his heart out for an ex nose the way he feels about them......................Don't bear thinking about.

Find it hard to see RL not appointing McLeish.
The media portrayed Lerner as weak for what they saw as his bowing to 'fan pressure' regarding McLaren and I think he's going to make a point by going along with McLeish now.
Let's face it, if he wanted to show the media he will not necessarily do what the fans want, he couldn't do it more spectacularly.
Some way to prove a point.

My feelings for what they are worth

McLeish would not be my ideal choice, however

It does look like he will now be the Villa manager

I support the club, not any individual within the club

If they wear the famous claret and blue they get my support

Get behind the club, get behind Mcleish

UTV SOTC

This.

this has just made me get more whisky out

GH - Becoming DOF?

If Houllier was becoming our DOF do you think he would be advising the club to employ a hoof ball donkey cock like McLeish? The two managers couldn't be further afield in their philosophies, this is why the "Shared vision of the club" statement makes no sense at all.

The bit from the club statement I really don't get is where it says 'proven premier league experience' but then they've gone for someone who's experience is in relegation fights.  Add to that the argument that his experience outside the premier league makes him a worthwhile candidate seems a huge contradiction.

Given we're unlikely to win anything anytime soon I'd much rather go for a coach who will get us playing decent football than someone who'll defend at all costs.

Just can't see any value to this choice, particularly given the fact that so many fans will be upset by it.  This just feels a little bit like the board wanting to put a marker down that they're not afraid to go against the fans, but in this instance it's potential suicide.

The first casualty will be the reception the general gets on the forums, which I think is probably close to the brink now with this announcement (just look in the various threads across the sites) and will be irreparable once he tries t defend the appointment.

I like my job and I don't want to give it up. I really enjoy going to work everyday which I don't think many people can say about their jobs but I am going to make myself available for the Villa job. If McLeish is the best they can find then I am prepared to fall on my sword, take one for the lads and become the Villa manager myself.
