OK. We get this jock twerp, we play boring shite football, fans desert , gates 10-20% down [times are hard, we need entertainment, been entertained by Eck's teams???], so the logical forum now is..................................................
HOW LONG WILL HE LAST?
My bet's on Christmas, massive fan unrest, poor side, falling gates, players wanting out, older disruptives unfit through excesses, bottom 6, bye Ekk, wasted season, and thats optimistic.

Went to bed last night after the General's FB / Twitter bullshit story was going around, having been at work all day I can't believe that people are still on here discussing its validity. Even more so I can't believe that the Express & Star have run it as a 'fact'.

FFS this whole situation and how people are swallowing every ounce of shite coming from the media (who know nothing) is getting more and more ridiculous by the hour.

MCLEISH WILL NEVER BE EMPLOYED BY ASTON VILLA UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

Mysteryman has 100% ruled out Hughes- hell will freeze over before they'd go for Hughes were his words.
Mysteryman also had no idea that McLeish was going to resign and neither he was going to be favourite for the Villa job.

was aware he was interested in Villa job and had heard the rumours that he may resign but more to do with his relationship with Blues absoultely nothing to do with Villa job .

We got rid of Houllier because, let's be honest, his heart isn't up to it. I doubt the board decided "let's fuck off Hou for Eck!". Hou had to go, we couldn't risk his health and we couldn't risk keeping him and him falling ill again in five months.

Same here bentman but they still won't believe it!

Yet, it was'nt even 48 hours ago that you were getting excited at the rumours on Merseyside that Moyes was going to quit Everton, and even claimed Monday could be a 'historic day'.

You either spend that much time on here you forget what you post or the early stages of Alzheimers is setting in. Either way, imo, this site is worse for it.

The Bentman - £10 on Moyes at say 1000/1? Deal or no deal. Just a cover bet you understand.

I'll take it. I really do think it is that unlikely. Please note I don't have ten grand though so you might have to wait a while. ;)

I think we will appoint either McLeish or someone from left field.

I just don't get the logic of getting rid of Houllier a much better manager who I believe would take us forward and then getting McLeish who I believe will make us weaker unfortunately.

Me too. If McLeish is the best we can do my preference would be to have kept Gerard. His reign was not without (some) promise. The doctors gave him the all clear and he wanted to come back.

I think Hoolahoop was taken ill and the medics advised him not to go back to such a stressful job.
This left Villa looking for a new manager......Where have you been ? try to keep up, your way off pace.

Yes clampy I was excited by rumours moyes may quit as he's a good manager but he never quit and I've accepted that he's not going to do so, however much we may wish.

Also clampy don't joke about alzheimers because as many of us know it is not funny .

He heard rumours and IIRC he said when he talked about 'meltdown' he wasn't even referring to McLeish, but I also heard rumours of McLeish coming to us on Saturday night by a couple of people I know. I don't know if this was as ITK as people are making out if this had already been released to the press before he actually resigned. Maybe a couple of people were playing ball all along?

At the time I just thought it can't happen and used some logic and reason as why it won't be him realising just because McLeish reisgned didn't mean we wanted him. Then I hear about Randy is in Corsica, Pannu raging over E-Mails and that dreaded outburst by General on  Facebook.

It seems like a joke has not only turned into a nightmare, but a very grim reality.

I will now be pretty surprised if it's NOT McLeish as our new manager.

Me too.

In fact, I am pretty sure there can be no logical reason to pay off Houllier, and pay more compensation to another club, just to employ McLeish.

Yep, from somebody who was in the bookies in Knowle at about 3.30pm on Sunday who was told that he'd heard McLeish had asked to be released from his contract.  McLeish lives in Knowle.  He has friends and neighbours.

Ditto, this is just absolutely shocking.

Houllier wanted to stay on though, him having a scare just made the decision for the board easier.

I'd love to know where all these anti-Houllier posters have gone. I told them but they wouldn't listen, and as a result we've ended up with McShite.

If we didn't have moronic people hanging up ridiculous banners from the Holte Houllier's blood pressure probably wouldn't of risen with all the stress he had to deal with.

"Urgh, don't like that Frog. He's not good enough"

Well tough, you're now stuck with McLeish.
