I think it's nailed on that McLeish will get the job.  IMO all the politics involved just point to it.  Apologies if this has been posted before but someone should obtain a dvd of McLeish's time at Blose and pass it on to Mr Lerner, Mr Faulkner and General Krulak's for their perusal.  When they have had time to study it in detail there could quite possibly a swift about turn.

Terrible decision getting rid of Houllier for this. What a fucking miserable start to the summer if it does happen.

lets not forget the important factor in the wembley fiasco ... they didn't beat the Arse at football .. the Arse fcuked up and lost the cup .. big difference.

Mysteryman has 100% ruled out Hughes- hell will freeze over before they'd go for Hughes were his words.
Mysteryman also had no idea that McLeish was going to resign and neither he was going to be favourite for the Villa job.

I think maybe we should stop hanging our hopes on something Mysteryman has said.

The thing is the media have absolutely no idea on what is going on with our process.  As a result we are feeding off scraps of information and analysing these scraps to the nth degree and getting in a tiz with it all. The club have decided on how they intend to carry out the recruitment of the new manager and they are not going to move from this process.  I have a feeling this will go on for a while yet.  Why, I don't know.  My opinion is that it won't be Mcleish as there is just no logic to the appointment and there are too many coincidences in terms of when he resigned.

I just don't get the logic of getting rid of Houllier a much better manager who I believe would take us forward and then getting McLeish who I believe will make us weaker unfortunately.

FWIW I'm with Krulak up to a point.  I think McLeish could do a decent job (like Hughes could for example).  I just doubt he'd be given the time.

Can anybody summarise what has Gen. Krulak actually said?
If you trawl back to about page 465-470 you can see the full unexpurgated version.
