Whats the hold up with appointing Rijkaard? He is available now. :o

Agreeing terms and the like takes time. We are in spitting distance.  Thursday is when it will happen.

It's the way I which we as a Club are being portrayed in the media that's hurting more than the possibility of McLeish coming in (possibly)

I've had to endure a 20min taxi ride with the horrid "Quinny" and "Saggers" on the radio dragging the Villa name through the mud and by all accounts this has been on-going since the resignation of GH.

Luckily I work and live in London now so the banter isn't too bad as I work with many a Spurs / Gooner fan but even they are shocked about the venom being spouted in the media, god knows what it must be like in the second City.

Bevan was on sky a couple of hours back- says he's spoke several times to mcleish in last 48 hrs and as he's suing for constructive dismissal he's free to take another job now.

how does he come to sue for constructive dismissal? .. I thought he did a MON on them?

One of the many, many reasons for not going near him, he couldn't keep his team in the division when that was his sole focus, what chance has he got when he's devoting time to a court case as well?

Not so sure about that if reports at the weekend are to be believed.

Mysteryman, what has happened to cause such a volte face?
You were adamant yesterday there was nothing in this.

Come on mate. It's time to elaborate a bit I think. This is all getting silly now. Somebody needs to tell us what the fuck is going on or at least help fill in some blanks.
You didn't want to cock a deal up by mentioning it. Is that one dead now and if so why?

Its now a question of who you believe this Peter Pannu at the Blouses has said we have been in contact and have asked for permission to speak to AM, this has caused a reaction from the Blouses that in some way they want to intervene to stop it happening, why would we anyway is the point, are they stupid or just paranoid.

So it seems we have been in contact, which then brings into question the speech put on here by the General and the fact this action completely contradicts pretty much most of what he's said, you have to think that otherwise the only other conclusion is he's clueless, knows nothing about football in the UK and the rival passion involved, or it just smacks of desperation.

Sure you've all seen this as its picked up from the BBC today, Graham Taylor has the point IMO and most of which I've been saying.

why even ask to speak to him.. beggars belief

Is that what we've done?

Or have we just told them that if we decide we want to speak to him we're free to do so?

I have reread and read into it and genuinely hope it's right . Certain ex Villa players at SHA are also pretty convinced about McCleish making the move to us . Could all just be a big wind up I am hoping it is
Well, if Ridgewell and Fahey say so it must be true.

I have to be honest. It is hard to get my head around even the possibility of appointing Mcleish. IF it happens, there's nothing to sugar coat, no positive spin. This is the best time to look for a new manager and IF we appoint Mcleish, there's simply no excuse and the board will deserve all the stick that will come their way.

Like many have said, we'll have to get on with it and accept it, but he's hardly progressive is he. I look forward to two holding midfielders in the same team and trying to nick a 1-0 win at QPR,

They were doing deals for players behind his back.

All this media attention on if he's coming to us means that they're not having to answer as to why he walked out on them.

So was the 'meltdown' you were referring to last week is McLeish potentially being our new manager?

Be honest, did you know about McLeish resigning prior to him actually resigning?

Having made a statement of it won't be McCleish based on what I was told Sunday night from what yes not my normal source but was told to bank on it that same source then telling me there might be something in it . I still am no clearer to who it could be totally confusing info and discounting all of it until I hear otherwise . Re McCleish was aware he was interested in Villa job and had heard the rumours that he may resign but more to do with his relationship with Blues absoultely nothing to do with Villa job .

Hughes resigns and immediately favourite for the villa.  McCleish resigns, Pannu suggests conspiracy, papers run with it and we are all in a panic. And so it will go on til an announcement is made. Just been watching ESPN and their lead story was McCleish and Villa approach but it was just regurgitated press talk. Any manager and every manager will be linked to the post if the media can spin an angle to justify it IMO

If we appoint McLiesh and it goes wrong you will see turmoil at Villa park like has never been seen before, if RL and others don't get that then they will know what the expression "reaping the whirlwind will mean".

Seriously this now eeks desperation, said on here a few days ago clubs with a well thought out game plan don't act this way, this of the cuff stuff is b*ll*cks, pointed out how Fulham moved fast to get Jol, doesn't matter a fig what as happened in the past, fact is they did it, the Houllier health thing gave us so much notice its ridiculas to think about, we knew this was coming, if you ran a business this way you'd be well and truly stuffed.

They need to get this sorted, looks to me like we have some chance of keeping our better players but that won't happen if we carry on friggin around.IMO.
