I don't support Villa because of who the manager is. I'm no different to any other Villa fan in that I had my preference for manager but he isn't going to get it. The fans had there say in the possibility of McLaren getting the job and that was knocked on the head. We can't keep revolting against every name we don't like that gets linked to us. If it's McLeish then so be it, nothing else changes, we're still Aston Villa, we still play in Claret and Blue and we still play at Villa park, exactly the same as when I started supporting the Villa in 1964. Manager's, players, Chairmen and owners have come and gone in that time but those three most importnat things remain constant and so does my love for Aston Villa. So come August I will have renewed my ST and will be in my seat of 19 years venting my spleen at the Lions as normal regardless of who is stood on the sidline.

I can't help feeling very deflated if it is Eck. It's got to be seen as a poor job of finding a manager.

Fuck it, IF he comes we will have to get behind him & the team. (But I pray to god he doesn't get the job!)

I have to say that, unfortunately, the whole things has worn me down a bit. I'm now at the stage where I'd rather they just made their bloody choice, got him in situ and let him get on with getting ready for the new season. If that's going to be McLeish (shudder), well then so be it. I'll keep on supporting as much as always, as I think practically all of us will.

If it IS him, though, I hope they're preparing a bit of a spending spree...

From a position of relative calm having received what I considered on Sunday night a message that I presumed had been conveyed to the person by the inner sanctum I have to hold my hands up here and say I am not 100 percent sure NOW . Unlike the Hughes one where  I am 100 percent I think my messenger and me was premature with saying it won't be McCleish  !
The words coming back to me ' We can't keep discounting everyone and nothing is impossible ' leads me to think there is a consideration of McCleish . I think it would be the biggest mistake of Randy's ownership if true as simply McCleish will not be given any time no chance and will be berated . He would need to win our first 6 games playing like Barcelona to have any chance with the fans . For what it's worth he comes across as a decent guy and if he had come to us from anywhere but Blues I think he may have a chance but that and the dire football throghout his reign simply cannot see how it would work and why we would want him . I still though don't think we will appoint him but I aint nowhere near as sure as I was now as obviously other targets are looking less likely  and they are keeping options open .

What is the logic in picking a shit manager who will constantly have the majority of the fans against him from the off?

Have a chance?  His record in the Prem is worse than all the other candidates.

Has there been any more developments from that 'unofficial e-mail' to suggest it will be Mcleish ??

Absoulutey this. If McLeish is going to be the manager, get him in ASAP. Get in his targets. Back him as GK said in his post. The kind of signings he brings in would say a lot about how he wanted to set the team up. Any more dithering looks like the board just have no idea. Although if we're going to get caught up in the legal side of things it might not all be down to us.

I really thought the slowness and quietness from the board was just because they were taking their time to get the right man in (perhaps sort out Moyes). Now it just seems like Graham Taylor was probably right in his assessment of the search.

surely this supposed email to Blues is just a tactic to wind them up and/or deflect attention away from the deal they are doing with the new manager?? Is Randy just pretending to throw a bloody big stick to the press hounds whilst heading in an entirely different direction??

The whole process has been a massive joke. And to top it all off we're going to end up with a terrible manager, playing shit football and all the fans fighting the club and each other.

I expected better from Randy.

What really sticks in my craw is that we would have to give the rags £millions in compensation for a manager alot of Villa fans don't want , and most of the blues fans are glad to see the back of.

Bollocks to it all. Whatever will be will be. Sick to death of all the speculation, conjecture and absolute bullshit being reported and taken as gospel then fawned upon. Twitter can go fuck itself. I'm off to renew my season ticket.

I agree with Doris Day here, but can I add poxy facebook group petitions as well. Fuck em.
