Why not Hughes or any other fucker who have a far better record? Doing it on the cheap are we? Best man for club my arse.

I didn't want Hughes at all but compared to Mcliesh he's fucking Guardiola

no he's not greg. I'm not a fan of McLeish but at least he's had some success as a manager. Hughes has won precisely sweet fuck all as manager of Wales and at 3 club sides. He's massively overrated.

I don't like Hughes idea of football but Mcliesh's is even worse. He'll stink out villa like he did Blose. To me winning stuff in scotland puts him in the same catagory as MON, Billy Mcneil, gordon strachen - its means nowt. End of the day it means nothing what i think because i don't actually care that much that he comes from blose. But it will matter to a lot of Villa fans as any fool could have told you and it will end in tears unless he has us up the top of the table come christmas. if you think he has it in him then fair enough - I don't and this time next year we'll be wondering how this appointment was ever considered.

I think most people are wondering how it's being considered *now*!

The next few weeks will be massive in terms of who he buys and sells and how pre-season goes, If we start off the season better than we did last year, which shouldn't be hard, then everyone's moods will start to change and improve. I don't think he has to be on top of the table because that's completely unrealisitic. We were top 6 under MON, and progress will be to get back to that. I don't know if he has it in him, an it won't be easy at all, let's not kid ourselves.

My head is swimming. I cant quite believe what is happening. Is it?
This is a nightmare. Not only one of the worst candidates you could envisage, but one connected to Blose and we cant even just hire him without any issues, he's left his club under dubious circumstances so he could cost millions.

For fucks sake, just make all this go away. There are so many better options. Leave the fucker be.

On the plus side, at least you can be sure Randy will back Eck to the hilt.

He's got no chance otherwise.

This is the man who chose to spend money on that utter carthorse Zigic.  Giving him money is the worst thing you could do.
I'm no McLeish fan but I think criticism should be mitigated. He was clearly at odds with his board and it's impossible to know how different things could have been if everybody was pulling in the same direction.

He's not the right man for Villa though.

The guy has spent £35m in the last 2 years, together with loan players and has ended up getting them relegated.  The reason why they got relegated is because he plays negative football.  When they got promoted, they didn't exactly play decent football then.

McLeish is just another of the current crop of average managers who were players at the same time as many of the current football pundits.  Of course they get 'bigged up' by the media.

I am sorry but McLeish is a big turn off for me.  At least with GH I could see what he was trying to do and could see some forward planning for a future that matched our infrastructure.

I could at least find some positives in all the other rumoured candidates, but this? Can't think of anything.

With Hughes available and basicially saying "come and get me" they go for McLeish instead?!

I'm sorry but any person who hires that Kia bloke to represent them must be a complete wanker. Hughes hasn't done anything in the game yet (as a manager) to justify the level of arrogance or disrespect he showed Fulham.
As it was Fulham who wanted the 12 month get-out clause in the contract in the first place how is it Hughes showing the arrogance and disrespect? They would just as easily have dumped him if results hadn't gone so well.

he had agreed to sign an extension and left them high and dry at the very last minute. I just don't think he warrants the plaudits he sometimes gets.

MM implied that Hughes wanted a release clause if a bigger club came knocking and a guaranteed net transfer budget of £x millions per year.

I am no lawyer but surely we can not talk to him without their permission as he is still under contract until they accept his resignation.

I wonder whether Birmingham will sue McLeish for breach of contract?  The issue is not between the clubs, it should be between Blues and McLeish.  They'll no doubts get an injunction of some sort, preventing him getting the job, delaying it as long as possible to ruin our pre-season plans. I'm not keen on McLeish coming to Villa but if it's going to happen, it needs sorting quickly or we'll miss out on potential targets.  I also wonder if his first signing would be Seb Larsson? If Moyes really is resigning, I with he'd get on with it.

Aston Villa board will talk to Alex McLeish - insisting he is a free agent

Villa are not believed to have been put off by Birmingham acting chairman Peter Pannu’s statements about compensation amid suggestions that McLeish is claiming constructive dismissal.

If that is the case it is thought Villa could talk to, appoint and unveil the 52-year-old former Rangers and Scotland boss without Blues’ legal wranglings disrupting the process.

It would then be a matter of McLeish continuing his constructive dismissal claim against Birmingham from his new position as Villa manager.

Although, a manager taking on another job so soon after leaving his previous role would effectively waive his right to personal compensation at any subsequent arbitration hearing.

What's this, another manager walks out and claims constructive dismissal.  It seems to be catching!

They just want the wedge. Considering what  we have just spunked out to GH and MoN it is a spermatoza droplet in a veritable cum tsunami. A wank stain if you will.

Fuck this shit.

Ask yourself where we'd be if MoN had stayed.  Serious question
Playing footsie with third rate ascendants really irks me.
MON is gone and that is that and we can only consider matters. We certainly would not have been cosying up to relegation and I doubt we'd be 9th either.
he is gone and we are trying to attract 2nd hand third raters...oh dear me.
Rijkaard if he comes would give hope..the rest oh dear oh dear me.
How low the proud Villa has fallen.
