It is reported on Sky that we backed out of the McClaren interview due to fan power is this true or did they make it up?
I know it was rumored we were interested but were we really, did the club actually release a statement?
Or again is this just speculation?

It's all speculation, Ian. The only thing we know for certain is that we wanted to talk to Martinez but he declined to meet us. The rest is a mixture of rumour, guesswork and complete bullshit.
Thanks Chris, I thought so. They should not be able to spout this in the news, why I turned on Sky Sports News I'll never know. It pisses me off every time.

I don't know if that post is real or not, but it was scarily similar to the one he posted in defence of Houllier on here last year just before we appointed him.

The Facebook stuff is all coming from Vital Villa, and it is a poster there who is saying he deleted the post (I presume it was on his account but I do not know anything about Facebook!). I find it strange that the General would suddenly start to rant in a way (subject matter, not style) he said he would not.

What post, has anyone, other than those who put it on here seen it?

Part of me thinks, he did actually win something last season, more than MON ever managed to do here, with considerably more money. Plus he did it at Blues.  He also has made some decent signings.  He might persuade Foster and Dann to sign....

Then I remember it Alex Bloody McLeish.

Has it not dawned on anyone yet that the Steve McLaren interview was cancelled because he was nailed on to go to Forest? Either that, or Villa were not interested in him and therefore had no contact because they knew he was Forest bound?

As for McLeish. I'll believe it when I see it. If it's true that we're still after David Moyes, we need to get at it, very quickly.

We werent interested. Media made up the story, denied by Schteve himself.

The facebook quotes do seem a little odd.  However, he has been known on many occasions to be very indiscreet when something riles him up.

That said it really wouldn't be difficult to make up a quote and make it sound like him.

How similar?

Similar enough that you could just cut and paste names etc. in order to 'update' it, if was so your desire?

2 accounts on FB lads, Charles Krulak (privacy settings all on, the General in his uniform) and Chuck Krulak, hardly any privacy settings on and the General in a Viking Hat making a 5-1 sign.

Now, perhaps he has 2 accounts but it certainly looks potentially suspect.

I don't agree with the first part of that at all. McClaren was available, the Villa job wasn't offered to him and Forest were the first to offer him a job afterwards. Simple. But I don't agree either with all the hype that it was us horrible Villa fans that changed Lerner's mind. That's bullshit.

As for McLeish, I have no idea. Neither does anyone else outside of the immediate dramatis personae.

mebbe the chuck account is his "pissed up on lager" account. Does it say when he jonied because if its a while back its probably very unlikely to be a wind-up.
