For me its simple...

We started the season without a manager, we ended the season without a manager, we still don't look anywhere nearer getting a manager, we seem incapable of attracting anyone of any reasonable quality, people speak of faith, I'm sure there where some on the Titanic that where convinced something would save them just before they where plunged to there icy graves.

Evening people

Did you read General Krulaks post yesterday or does that involve actually having to compute the information and is hence too difficult.

I read the post and replied to it.

Thought it was on the whole rubbish, thought that it was someone trying to plicate the fan base with the carrot that they are trying to find something that isn't there and in the final conclusion will employ someone that will leave us all scratching our heads as to what the phuk that was all about, bit like Houllier really.

Of course he's trying to placate the fanbase, some of whom, yourself included, are wetting themselves at having to wait a week or so to find out about their new Manager.

As for your comment about finding something that isn't there, I assume you'been party to the discussions between Randy and the interviewees then?

Thanks for the informed tip of then, so who are all these interviewees that Randy has been interviewing, great news, this is at least showing some progress then, showing at least some headway, so what do you reckon then, none of them up to the job.

Trying to put a positive spin on things (I know it's hard), Mcleish was manager of possibly Blues' best ever seasons. They finished 9th and then won a trophy and he did it with no money, a bunch of Villa rejects and some not very good players. The first time they were relegated he didnt have chance to do anything, and this time he was hit very hard by injuries. Does that do anything for anyone???

i would let gary mac and cowans stay in charge until houllier can return. the guy is a total step up in class from o"neill,

Just logged on after hearing the news, and can't be bothered to check back through 40 odd pages. But I was going to suggest exactly the same thing. So don't know whether it has already been mentioned. But if our top manager targets are not available, any panic appointment  is going to be a gamble. Having GMac and Cowans temporarily in charge of team affairs, with GH taking on a director of football role until he is well, surely can't be any more of a gamble. Has the added benefit of not having to start from scratch, and being able to sort out the transfers that were hopefully already in the pipeline.

Looking at the poll can't believe that over 7% think AM SHOULD be the one!

I still believe McLeish philosophy and approach to the game suits us. Why is everyone protesting about McLeish possible appointment. Do you think Rijkaard is a better manager than McLeish? Rijkaard was a great player but cannot coach a team unless it is Barcelona. I heard a lot of people say that the reason they don't want McLeish is not beacuse he was City's manager. So you think that Rijkaard, Grayson, Poyet, Coyle are so better managers? Let's face it, Rafa, Ancelotti and Moyes are not interested.

Where have Rafa and Ancelotti said they're not interested?  Care to back that up with some quotes.

Do you really need quotes? If you were Ancelotti or Rafa would you come to Aston Villa? Would you come to a team that aims for a top 6( or top 4 spot) when you are behind the top 6, and the top 6 will continue to spend more than you. People be realistic..

If McLeish is 'nailed' on to be the manager, why have betfair got him at 21/20? McLaren was smaller odds than that and he wasn't interviewed.

The sensible money is on Hughes at 5/1

Sort of with you in principle maidstone but I think GH needs a long, long time off. He's never going to get "better" as such, just recover from the condition he has for the rest of his life for a little while. I wish him a long and happy retirement!
But I would like to see some sort of continuity.

Why don't they just come put and say no if they haven't had any contact with McLeish? It then just stops all rumours.

1. Because the General has said we won't conduct our business through the media
2. Because if you respond to one bullshit story you have reply to all of them
3. Because it allows Randy to work on who we do want
4. Because when we do get someone, we'll be delighted it isn't McLeish
