Hi there. New to the forums so be gentle!

In all of this I've seen us go from (apparently) wanting managers who have done it all (i.e. Ancelotti, Benitez) to wanting a manager who nearly got his club relegated (Martinez) to wanting a manager who actually did get a club relegated.

I've never felt so down being a Villa fan.

:(

Yes, it appears to be a big let down at the moment, but keep the faith, a quality manager will be coming, i'm sure.

I hope so, I really do. I would be so happy for Benitez right now given the 'alternative'. I can't believe that RL and PF would go for McLeish given the backlash they received over McLaren.

The Nigerian Tribune are reporting that we are talking to Frank Rijkaard.Honest.
Up all night clutching at straws.

http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/sports/23423-aston-villa-considers-rijkaard-as-houlliers-replacement

Really!

This should cheer everyone up a bit, this lot are never wrong from my experience.
 ???

How the hell did you come across that bigad?

Good spot anyway. :)

I don't get this hysteria at all. There no noises coming from the club at all. The media have no access, so they're making it up as they go.

Trust me, thinking David Norton and Mark Kerr were the future of Aston Villa was much worse.

i hope randy is not reading this tonight because if i were him and reading these comments id be tempted to sell up and say stuff it, what happened to faith in randy of a few hours ago?
If randy makes this choice i for one will back him and the new manager and give my support to the club i love , mcleish is not in my top 5 but if chosen so be it.

Blues PR manager, says that we have NOT made an approach for McLeish

http://twitter.com/#!/_andywalker_/status/80323590305746944

Not quite true.  He pointedly says.... no 'official' approach.

I'm pretty sure that we don't make approaches by other methods.

Even Pannu said that they had given him £40m and he still got them relegated

IF we appoint this man then this would be the biggest kick in the teeth to all Villa fans. If both Lerner and Mcleish where in Corsica at the weekend, I wonder who wrote the email?

I want to know who the experts are advising the club, because they can have no understanding of the bad feeling between the two clubs!

What makes me laugh is the General who said 3 weeks ago that he was happy when Blues got relegated, know we are supposedly hiring their manager (you could not make it up)!

We may not own the club, but if we don't back the manager then he is finished before he has started (ask George Graham what it was like when he went to manage Spurs)

Season ticket sales are down already, can you imagine if we appoint the Ginger one, how many will renew then?

Better not tell the owner of the club that Avram Grant is available, because we would want to interview him next.

Well according to the Nigerian Tribune we are now considering appointing Rijkaard.

Must be true if it's reached the news over there!

cant name names, but have been advised of this :

McLeish is first choice but Lerner is concerned about the fans reaction. Source: inside Villa is all I'll say.
Season ticket sales matter I guess. Keep an eye on the fans forums because if they are in any way positive towards AM then he'll be signed.

so, say NO to McLeish.............you have been warned!

what did i start? shouldve kept quiet

just say no

If the chairman was to sell the club on the basis of a few dickheads on the internet then we'd probably be better off without him.

Well according to Talksport Randy does read these comments - if he didn't Steve Mclaren would be manager now.
