The opposite I think. He tried to abandon Wimbledon's traditional long-ball game and they got relegated as a result.

I remember going to Selhurst Park one year whilst he was manager of Wimbledon (i think we drew 2-2 and Hendrie scored both). We were surrounded by Norweigans, one of who sat and read his newspaper during the game.

Anyone with the nickname 'Drillo' who's managed a club called Frigg four times is good enough in my book.

My Norwegian isn't as good as my Danish, but I think "Drillo" means "the teaser"

No not at all. He used to quote Charles Reep all the time. He loved the long ball game. Norway were effective under him but fucking awful to watch.

Bilic would be for me - someone I'd never even thought of, don't particularly want, but would take as it would be intruiging.

Nothing to compare him on club wise, but is clearly a good motivator, got a very good win record at international level and could turn into the next Wenger (who had similar credentials) or Dr Jo (likewise)

But at least it would show some creative thinking, and I think he would be great in the media - similar to JG

Prefer better - but I'd take him.
Ah, you've found the bottom of the barrel, then!
I know very liuttle about Bilic but it's interesting that he has not returned to the top flight in club management.
Comparing him to Dr Jo and JG is not v encouraging either.
What's his similarity with Wenger?

Ah ok. I seem to remember Wimbledon played a bit less long-ball under him. Not exactly Holland '74 mind...

Olsen Makes Shock Premier League Return

Tony Hack

Former Wimbledon manager Egil Olsen has decided to take a second shot at premier league manager. The 69 year old tactician has quit his job with the Norwegian national team to take the reins at Midlands club Aston Villa.

"I was desperate to return to the premier league. The first time was not a success but I am sure with a big club like Villa I cannot fail. I missed the day to day work of club management a lot. Also, being at Villa has the great advantage of the fact that I am no longer obliged to pick that club footed, lazy arse Carew"

Aston Villa CEO and former EastEnders actor Paul Faulkner saluted his appointment.

"It is great to get a coach as decorated as Egil. He was our first choice all along. We just found out about it after David Moyes, Roberto Martinez, George Burley, Emile Heskey and Chris Griffin from Family Guy rejected the job. I am sure under his tutelage we will once again strive on to achieve our club's goals which have not changed."

Faulkner refused to comment on accusations that Olsen only got the job as he was the one named left on an internet messageboard thread and pointed to a number of other candidates who Olsen beat to the job. Sources close to Alan Curbishley, Graeme Souness, Zippy and Bungle spoke of their disappointment at being beaten to the job.

Olsen will be Assisted by Nigel Pearson and Martin Laursen and is already plotting a move for his former international charge Brede Hangeland as his first signing.

He's from Foreignland.

In the same way Wenger came from Japan after managing Grampus 8

Lets face it - there is more chance of it going the other way - but listen, I'm looking for anything positive at the moment.

Seriously, hand on heart, how many of us think Moyes would come. Short of Maz, who is the eternal optimist. I would bet less than 5% would think Moyes would leave the comfort of Everton for us.

I would have felt quite confident in April, after GH was taken ill.

But he's given a few interviews since then when he's been quite specific about his lack of interest in the job.

I think it's possible, but only if there is a tipping point at Everton.

I can't imagine we'll be looking abroad now. What with the recent Royal mail price increase its going to be financially unrealistic to send letters out abroad. You're talking a tenner for signed for air mail and thats only tracked in this country. As soon as its out the uk it can end up anywhere.

Pat Murphy's the man in the know - he reckons it's Egil Olsen too.

dicounting all the 'star names'  Martines and Coyle were my top two picks
i just want to look forward to someone at least trying to play a bit of attractive posesion football, and trying to build something for the future.

i know i'm easily pleased, but Coyle will do fine for me,
but he's not on the radar with the rumourmongerers is he ?
